Are you feeling overwhelmed today? Lately, I certainly have been!

Whenever you experience a change or you’re trying to build a habit, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, even if the change is a small one.

But when all of my tasks or questions start to overwhelm me, I’ve been reminding my self to pause. Take a breath. Focus on the moment and practice gratitude.

A moment of pause doesn’t answer all my questions. It doesn’t make the problems or the tasks go away. But it does help me feel present, steady and thankful when I’m tempted to think of all the things that need to happen in the future.

I love thinking of ways I can boost the nutrients in my meals just by adding veggies from my garden or a local market. 🍅

Not every meal can be made from scratch, but a fresh cucumber, tomato, or squash can turn a frozen or fast-food restaurant meal into a more nutritious one!

🥗 What are some of your favorite ways to “embellish” your meals with veggies?

Pool parties. Vacations. Hikes. Park Days. ☀️

The summer is full of busyness! And when you’re busy or traveling, sometimes your meals can look different.

You’re trying new restaurants. You’re choosing meals that are easy to pack for a picnic.

But wherever you are, you can own how you want to feel about food. Honor your intuitive nature about hunger and fullness. Enjoy your food in the moment. Eat slow. Appreciate what you have.

These habits don’t have to change even if your routine does!

Peptides are trending - and you can find a lot of opinions on social media about them!

Like many trends that come and go, there is some science behind why people are getting into peptides.

Peptides occur naturally in your body and are used to help with inflammation, tissue repair, and more!

One of the best ways to know what your body needs is to work with a nutritionist who can help you evaluate your body, your season of life, and your goals for overall health.

Be careful of just jumping on trends, things that aren’t evidence-based, or things that don’t promote overall health for the longterm. ❤

What’s the difference between a portion and a serving size?

Simply put, a serving size is what you find on the back of a box or can of food; a portion is an amount of food influenced by our experiences, our bodies and how much food we need to fuel our day.

One serving might be the perfect amount of food for you to feel full. But for the person sitting across from you at lunch, that serving size might be too much or too little.

The important thing is to listen to your body to help determine the nutrients and fuel you need for your day!

As a nutrition coach, I hear a lot of talk about processed foods. Can you eat them? Should you eat them?

For me, there's no firm rule!

I enjoy a boxed macaroni and cheese or bowl of soup from the store. These foods are definitely processed, but they're not "unusable"!

Sometimes I enjoy these foods on their own, but I often like to take these processed foods and "embellish." Maybe I'll use real cheddar and milk instead of the powdered cheese that comes with my boxed mac and cheese. Or I'll chop up fresh veggies for added nutrients.

Instead of seeing these processed foods as "bad" for me, I'm looking for ways I can embellish them for an easy, nutrient-rich meal!

And you can do it too! Share your ideas for embellishing your next meal.

I love macaroni and cheese (even though I might feel guilty for eating processed food). But I also love when I can “embellish” a processed food to ensure I’m getting the nutrients I need!

I’ll cook spinach, onions or broccoli and add it to the noodles. Sometimes I use real cheese, sometimes I use the cheese that comes with the package and add milk to it.

🥘 By embellishing, I’m taking a processed food and adding the nutrients I need to fuel my body!

What are some ways you can embellish your next meal?
