Monique The Doula Offering Birth, Postpartum and Virtual Doula Services Monique Cowan is a New Beginnings and Birth Arts International trained Birth and Postpartum Doula.

She is passionate about closing the breastfeeding gap between Black women and other women in the US and affordable doula and midwifery care for all women. Monique specializes in Birth and Postpartum doula care and offers an innovative Virtual Doula Service whereby she coaches pregnant and brand new mothers and their support systems via phone, video chat and email. Monique also offers natural pain

management techniques, breastfeeding support, newborn care assistance and education, sibling care, home care, cooking, herbal tea and sitz bath prep and emergency childcare service (called Mother's Relief) for new moms who may be in desperate need of a break (or who may have an emergency to tend to) for a few hours to overnight. Monique made the decision to become a doula after the birth of her child in 2011 after her own doula helped to empower and enlighten her about the strength of her own body and mind to birth and care for her new baby without any fear. Monique is fervent about passing on that same empowerment to other women during their birthing year, regardless of background or income, having been a mother on welfare, herself.

Thank you for allowing me to touch, hold, teach, cry, laugh, help, feed, bathe, squeeze, remind, speak, support and love each and every one of you and your babies this and every one of these last 12 years! It is no small thing to be allowed to hold space during the most vulnerable time in a family's life as a stranger and be granted the role of facilitator as someone brings forth life. Thank you all for granting me that honor. I never take it lightly.

You have helped me master my craft and I am able to go and teach others because of you. Here's to spreading this love and these skills in the years to come!
