Our circle of care wraps around each patient and family. In a single week, that might look like a visit from a nurse, guidance from a social worker, respite from a trained volunteer, and help with personal care from a home health aide. Those visits are scheduled based on the needs of the need of the patient, allowing us to provide the right support at the right time.

Hospicare had a wonderful time meeting with community members and other nonprofits at Senator Lea Webb's health fairs in Cortland and Tompkins Counties this week. Thank you to everyone who came over to say hello and talk to us about our services, their experiences with hospice care, and some of our upcoming events. And thank you to Senator Webb and her team for hosting these events!

Next Saturday (September 12th), we'll be at the NYS Grange health fair from 9 AM-12 PM at the NYS Grange Headquarters (100 Grange Place in Cortland). Hope to see you there!

Walking with Grief offers a compassionate space for individuals coping with the loss of a loved one. Explore the Hospicare grounds (all accessible) while focusing on building resilience, connection, and meaning.

You may also see some of the local wildlife currently making their home on our eleven acres, including an osprey that spends many of his days near our pond.

Join us for a discussion of Bee Wilson’s new book, The Heart Shaped Tin: Love, Loss and Kitchen Objects at Tompkins County Public Library.

The memoir begins one August day, months after Bee Wilson’s marriage has abruptly ended, when a heart-shaped baking tin falls at her feet: the same one she used to bake her wedding cake twenty-three years prior. This discovery strikes a wave of emotions that propel her search for others who have attached magical and personal properties to the objects in their kitchens, especially those that belonged to people they have lost. Participants will each be loaned a copy of the book.
