Why wait until a flat spot is obvious? 👶🏼

Early monitoring of your baby’s head shape can help you notice changes that might be difficult to see with your eyes alone.. especially when you see your baby every day.

SoftSpot uses guided photos and AI to provide objective head-shape measurements, giving you a baseline early on and allowing you to monitor changes over time.

That information can provide peace of mind when things are progressing well or give you something objective to bring to your pediatrician or pediatric PT if you have concerns.

SoftSpot is not a replacement for professional evaluation or medical care.. it’s another tool that can support early detection and monitoring at home. 🤍

What actually happens during a baby head shape assessment? 👶🏼

As a pediatric PT, I’m looking at SO much more than just the flat spot.

We’re looking at head shape and symmetry, neck range of motion, positional preferences, strength, positioning, motor development, and objective measurements that can help us understand and track what’s happening over time.

That’s where SoftSpot can be a helpful tool. Using guided photos and AI, SoftSpot provides objective head shape measurements that can help with early detection and monitoring changes over time.

SoftSpot does NOT replace an evaluation by your pediatrician, pediatric physical therapist, or another healthcare provider. Think of it as another tool that can help you monitor at home and give you objective information to bring to your provider if you have concerns. 🤍

When should you actually worry about your baby’s flat spot? 👶🏼

Flat spots are common, and noticing one doesn’t automatically mean something is seriously wrong. But as a pediatric PT, there are a few things I’d pay closer attention to:

✨ The flattening is becoming more noticeable instead of improving
✨ Baby consistently prefers looking in one direction
✨ Baby has difficulty turning their head equally both ways
✨ You’re noticing facial or ear asymmetry
✨ You’re simply concerned about what you’re seeing

The tricky part? When you look at your baby every single day, it can be REALLY hard to tell whether their head shape is actually changing.

That’s why objective tracking can be helpful. SoftSpot uses guided photos to provide head-shape measurements that you can monitor over time, giving you information you can bring to your healthcare provider if needed.

SoftSpot is not a replacement for an evaluation from your pediatrician, pediatric PT, or another qualified healthcare provider. It’s another tool that can help give you peace of mind when things are improving or help you start a conversation when you have concerns. 🤍

When it comes to head shape, I’d rather you ask early than wait and wonder.
