If you’re living with a health condition, you’re not alone. Over 90% of older adults have at least one chronic condition. (And 75% of people aged 35-64 do too!) Lifestyle and habits make a big difference in your health as well as your quality of life. That’s why we offer a free, workshop that was developed by Stanford University. It’s called “My Life, My Health” and offers practical skills to help you lead a healthier life. We have sessions coming up in Medford and Reading. This program is free and open to anyone with a chronic condition. (Diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, high blood pressure, cancer, and Parkinson’s, to name a few.) Please check out the Medford and Reading flyers here to learn more...

A double thank-you to Northern Bank! They recently awarded us a $5,000 grant in support of our Money Management Program. The bank is also running a collection drive for our Emergency Closet at its Burlington, Melrose, Reading, Stoneham, Woburn Center, and Woburn Main branches. You can view the second photo to help Northern Bank’s donation drive. (Learn more about both of our programs below.)
🏦 Money Management Program: Helps people 60 and up with day-to-day finances like budgeting and bill-paying, helping them continue living independently in their homes and communities.
🧴 Emergency Closet: When our team is helping an older adult or a person with disabilities who’s facing urgent need, the Closet provides essential items like bedding, towels, and toiletries.

Move together, thrive together. That’s the theme of “Resiliency in Motion,” an initiative we’re launching with support from The I'm Still Here Foundation. Their $12,000 grant will enable us to develop a research-based program for people with dementia and their caregivers, aimed at reducing stress, improving overall well-being, and strengthening cognitive and functional abilities. We’re honored to receive this grant and so thankful to I’m Still Here for supporting our vision for empowering people living with dementia and their caregivers! We’re looking forward to partnering again with Coach Julio Salado. And we’re excited to share more about this initiative in the weeks to come. ..

(mensaje bilingüe) Greetings from ! We had a great time at the Disability Pride Month celebration last weekend. The event was full of inclusive activities, resources, music, and more. We love this year’s theme, “United in Ability – Different Ways, One Community.” Jaimie, from our Outreach Team, enjoyed the beautiful weather and the chance to talk with community members!

🚑 Creating and maintaining a File of Life to convey important medical info to emergency responders

Each July, the U.S. observes Disability Pride Month. It began to commemorate the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), a landmark civil rights law, on July 26, 1990. But Disability Pride Month is about more than one law. The meaning behind the month is one of 5 things you might not know, in honor of disability pride. Check them out in these photos.
