In behavior analysis, what we see on the surface is only a small part of the story. Before we design interventions, we must first understand why a behavior is happening.
Functional assessment allows us to look beneath the surface—identifying the environmental variables, motivations, and functions that influence behavior.
When we prioritize understanding before intervening, we create supports that are ethical, individualized, and effective.
