Not all coughs are the same.

Over the years I've found that different essential oils seem to provide different kinds of support depending on what the respiratory system is experiencing.

💧 RESPIRATORY BLEND 1 — WET, MUCUSY & IRRITATED
✔️ Eucalyptus ✔️ Thyme ✔️ Rosemary ✔️ Tea Tree

Why these oils?
🌿 Eucalyptus is probably the oil most people think of first when it comes to respiratory support. Research has linked its main component, 1,8-cineole, to helping clear airways and support easier breathing.
🌿 Thyme has a long history of traditional use for chesty, productive coughs, and is valued for its purifying properties.
🌿 Rosemary has been studied for its effect on airway surface fluid, making it a great addition when things feel congested.
🌿 Tea Tree rounds out this blend with its purifying, fresh aroma — often used to support the body during respiratory infections.

🌙 RESPIRATORY BLEND 2 — DRY, IRRITATED & NIGHT-TIME
✔️ Peppermint ✔️ Lavender ✔️ Eucalyptus

Why these oils?

🌿 Peppermint contains menthol, which has been studied for its calming effect on coughs and its ability to ease the sensation of breathlessness — perfect for that dry, irritated feeling.

🌿 Lavender is wonderfully calming and has been studied for its soothing effect on irritated, reactive airways — especially helpful when coughing feels worse at night.

🌿 Eucalyptus again brings its clearing, opening qualities to support comfortable breathing through the night.

✨ Roller Blend Recipe
Add the oils to a 10 mL roller bottle and top with Fractionated Coconut Oil.
Blend 1: 4 drops each of Eucalyptus, Thyme, Rosemary and Tea Tree.
Blend 2: 5 drops each of Peppermint, Lavender and Eucalyptus.

Apply to the chest, throat, upper back and bottoms of the feet as desired.
As always, if you don't have every oil, start with what you have. Even one or two of these oils can make a meaningful difference.

⚠️ Always dilute before topical use and patch test first, especially if you have sensitive skin. Peppermint and Eucalyptus should not be used on or near the face of infants and young children.

And if you've got a go-to oil for respiratory support that didn't make this list, I'd love to hear it 👇
