β¨ What is Pediatric Occupational Therapy? β¨
Every child deserves the opportunity to play, learn, and become as independent as possible. Pediatric Occupational Therapy (OT) helps children develop the skills they need for everyday life through fun, individualized, play-based therapy.
Here's how OT can help:
ποΈ Fine Motor Skills
These are the small muscle movements in the hands and fingers that children use every day. OT helps improve skills needed for writing, coloring, cutting with scissors, building with blocks, buttoning clothes, using utensils, and many other school and daily activities.
π Self-Care Skills
Our therapists help children become more independent with everyday tasks like getting dressed, brushing their teeth, using utensils, grooming, toileting, and other age-appropriate daily routines.
π§Έ Play Skills
Play is how children learn! Occupational therapists use play to build problem-solving abilities, social interaction, imagination, attention, cooperation, and confidence while helping children reach important developmental milestones.
π§ Sensory Processing
Some children are extra sensitive to sounds, textures, movement, or other sensations, while others seek out more sensory input. OT helps children better understand and respond to sensory information so they can participate more successfully at home, school, and in the community.
β€οΈ Every child is unique, and our occupational therapists create individualized treatment plans designed to help each child reach their fullest potential.
