I don’t know about you, but I feel like I’ve gone through a decades’ worth of emotions in the last 24 hours. There has been a tremendous amount of disaster, destruction, sickness and death globally speaking, some very near and dear to our hearts and some on the other side of the planet. The thing I am learning in a whole new way is this: I cannot control these happenings, or the outcomes. I don’t know why I think I can or that I should, but it definitely stirs some extreme uncomfortable feelings inside of me when the only thing I can do is sit with it, and not be able to do a thing about it. Therefore, I know it’s something I need to allow to sink into every cell of my body. The only word I can come up with for this moon: SURRENDER. Complete surrender. Allow the emotions to flow. All of it. Do not try to control anything, there are no “should’s” or “shouldn’ts” just BE. This hardly makes sense to me, if I’m being honest. Just “being” wasn’t a safe place for me for many years. I had to do. I had to take care of. I had to be responsible for. To just BE was unheard of…and very well meant a punishment would soon follow. I am only now understanding what this actually means….no judgements, total acceptance.
So…take a bath or a shower or just stand barefoot on the earth releasing to recycle any residual stagnant energy that may be sticking to you, drink some water or a cup of grounding tea, put your to-do list aside for a few hours, and BE. What do you hear? What do you see? Breathe deeply and feel it. Exhale completely and then some more. You are here. Be here. There is no controlling what is coming around the bend. Be here now.

I would like to see you today.

Not the version who sorts everything.
Not the one answering everyone, keeping the peace, remembering the bloody lot and holding everything together.

I mean you.

The one underneath all the jobs, responsibilities and people who need something from you.

The one who likes what you like.
Who laughs at stupid things.
Who plays the song too loud.
Who wears the thing just because you bloody love it.
Who does something completely pointless because it makes you happy.

We can get so good at being what everyone else needs that we forget who we are when nobody needs anything at all.

So today, give that version of you a bit of room.

No improving.
No fixing.
No trying to become a better version of yourself.

Just come back to the person who was there all along.

I’d really like to see more of them.
