🦵 Did you know? 10–15 body weight squats after a meal may help reduce blood-sugar spikes?
Your muscles can act like a “glucose sponge.” When you contract large muscle groups, such as your quadriceps and glutes, they take up glucose from your bloodstream.
💡 How it works
• Large muscle activation: Squats engage some of the body’s biggest muscles.
• Glucose uptake: Contracting muscles can pull glucose from the bloodstream and use it for energy.
• Less reliance on insulin: Muscle contractions can stimulate glucose transport through GLUT4, helping muscles take up glucose even without the usual insulin signal.
⏱️ Try this after your next meal
• Timing: Start moving about 15–30 minutes after eating.
• Routine: Try 10–15 body weight squats. You can also break up sitting by doing brief bouts of movement throughout the post-meal period.
• Form: Feet about shoulder-width apart → lower as if sitting into a chair → keep your chest lifted → stand back up using your body weight.
✨ Small bursts of movement can add up. If you're able to squat safely, try making a few body weight squats part of your post-meal routine.
