🌑✨ WHY WE DON’T CHARGE OUR CRYSTALS OR MAKE MOON WATER DURING A LUNAR ECLIPSE ✨🌑
A lunar eclipse may look like a more powerful Full Moon—but more power does not always mean more clarity.
During a lunar eclipse, Grandmother Moon passes through Daughter Earth’s shadow. Spiritually, this is a threshold of interruption...light is obscured, hidden things rise, emotions intensify, and what has been buried may suddenly ask to be witnessed.
That makes eclipse energy profoundly useful for revelation, release, cord-cutting, shadow work, and breaking old cycles. But in my own practice, it is not the energy I choose to capture in water, place into my stones, or carry forward into manifestation.
Crystals amplify.
Water remembers.
And an eclipse reveals what has been concealed.
When we place our sacred tools beneath an eclipsed Moon, we may not be charging them only with lunar light. We may also be asking them to hold the instability, disruption, shadow, and accelerated unraveling moving through that portal.
In other words... we can unintentionally bottle the storm.
Then, days or weeks later, someone may begin carrying that water into their rituals or working with those stones—and wonder why life suddenly feels chaotic, relationships begin exposing their fractures, emotions become difficult to contain, or manifestations arrive through upheaval rather than alignment.
This does not mean eclipse energy is evil, cursed, or something to fear. Darkness is sacred, too. But sacred darkness must be approached with discernment. 🙏🏼
An eclipse is medicine for surrender—not necessarily manifestation.
It is a time to witness rather than summon.
To listen rather than command.
To allow the shadow to speak without asking it to build the next chapter of our lives.
"Not every practitioner follows this rule, and some intentionally collect eclipse water for banishing, endings, shadow work, or transformation. But that is very different from making ordinary moon water for cleansing, abundance, love, healing, or new beginnings. Even contemporary practitioners who work with eclipses often make this same distinction: eclipse-charged tools may be suited to release and disruption, while stable lunar phases are better aligned with attraction and long-term intentions. For those who did put their crystals or water outside: please do not panic!!!
✨ Pour the water back into the Earth with gratitude. If it was collected intentionally, label it clearly and reserve it only for eclipse, release, or shadow work. Do not drink crystal-infused water unless you know the stones and preparation method are physically safe.
✨ Cleanse your crystals with smoke, sound, Reiki, prayer, breath, or another method that is safe for that particular stone.
✨ Place them upon the Earth, beside selenite, or within a cleansing altar space.
✨ Speak your intention aloud-
“I release all energy that is not aligned with the highest and clearest purpose of this sacred tool.”
✨ Recharge them beneath a clear Moon once the eclipse has passed—or with sunlight, sound, your own hands, and deliberate intention.
I will be placing my stones and sacred tools outside tonight, after totality, allowing them to receive the returning light and the first breath of what comes after the shadow. For me, this is an intentional energetic reset...the eclipse has completed its revelation, and I am choosing what I carry forward.🙏🏼
As seasoned lunar practitioners, it is our responsibility to teach the difference between powerful energy and appropriate energy—not to frighten those who are learning, but to help them practice with greater awareness.
The Moon is never asking us to fear her darkness.
She is teaching us that there is a time to charge,
a time to release,
a time to create,
and a time to leave the altar quiet.
🌑 The eclipse reveals.
🌒 The returning light renews.
🌕 And wisdom is knowing which medicine we are gathering.
With ethereal light and unconditional love,
