When did it become normal for a mom to be a superhero?

This is such a common belief and expectation in our society these days. However, there is no evidence for this false belief. In fact, if we choose to believe this unrealistic idea about motherhood, we are setting ourselves up for failure.

There is no such thing as a superhero.

Did you read that?

There is no such thing as a superhero.

The problem with this pattern is that we accept all of the responsibilities and carry all of the mental load along with having the responsibilities of working or supporting a household when there is only so much of you to give. This leads to burnout, depression and increased anxiety.

If you're ready to begin letting go of this false reality and moving towards healing and acceptance, DM me or comment READY below 👇

Mama, fill your cup before you have nothing left to give!

Are you doing anything to care for yourself? Are you taking time to support your mental and physical well-being?

If not, this is your reminder that you are a priority too!

Of course it's important to take care of baby and any other kiddos, but you also get to take care of yourself or ask for help to make that happen.

Here are some easy and simple things you can do to begin prioritizing your well-being:
1. Meditation or prayer
2. Yoga or gentle body movement
3. Take a walk outside
4. Slow down and take a deep breath
5. Focus on what you have control over
6. Right in your journal or notes app
7. Get some sunshine!

Postpartum depression can look different from person to person. It's not always crying excessively or not being able to get out of bed. Sometimes it looks like regretting having a baby, sometimes it looks like anger or rage that's uncontrollable. Sometimes you feel like you're not bonding with your baby or maybe you're so anxious that you can't sleep. Ppd is treatable. It is not a character flaw. It is a mental health condition and there is help.

This post is not a replacement for therapy, but it can be a helpful tool in changing your perspective and beginning your journey to healing.

If you're ready to take the next step, schedule your free consultation on my website today. Link in Bio.
