Rattlesnake bites can become serious quickly, and knowing what to do can make all the difference. ER Dr. Allegra Newland, who specializes in wilderness medicine, shares what to do if you are bitten.
1. Remove tight clothing or jewelry near the bite
2. Keep the affected limb as still as possible
3. Go to the ER immediately for antivenom treatment
Symptoms can begin within 30 minutes and may become more severe within hours. Do not wait or try to treat it at home. Quick medical care is critical.
