Our community provider spotlight series continues with a caregiver many families in and around New England already know and trust: Jacquelyn Aldrich!

Jacquelyn is a childbirth and lactation specialist who has spent 30 years supporting families through pregnancy, birth, and feeding. Through her Westerly, Rhode Island-based practice, Mystical Caves & Milkiways, Jacquelyn offers consultations and classes in-person and online, meeting parents wherever they are and providing a safe space for inspiration and education. She is trained in Craniosacral Therapy (CST) and Craniosacral Fascial Therapy (CFT), and is a tethered oral tissue (TOT)-aware practitioner.

We're grateful for providers like Jacquelyn who mirror the SafeCirc® method of care: helping families to feel informed, supported, and never alone. Find her at MysticalCaves&Milkiways — and if you're a birthcare provider, we'd love to connect (contact us at www.safecirc.com).

"What should normal healing look like?"

It's one of the most common questions we get, and answering it is what sets SafeCirc® apart. A hospital-based procedure can leave new parents feeling unsure when follow-up care ends at discharge. At SafeCirc®, families have access to 24/7 phone support after the procedure, so every question is answered promptly by the team who knows your baby's care best. This level of follow-up is part of our commitment to ensuring every baby heals safely, and every parent feels confident along the way.

Ever wonder how circumcision providers are trained? The answer may surprise you.

In the United States, there is:

❌ No formal curriculum
❌ No standardized training program
❌ No certification for newborn circumcision

In medicine, the prevailing model is one that has been in place for generations — "see one, do one, teach one" — and historically, there hasn't been a standard way to practice this critical procedure.

SafeCirc® knew this had to change, so we changed it. Our founder, Dr. Tomlinson, authored the Early Infant Male Circumcision Training Manual for the World Health Organization (https://iris.who.int/items/68d6d819-0e29-4787-8fe7-efe54dcff213), and every SafeCirc® provider completes a rigorous training program built on that curriculum.

When Leah A's family visited us recently, they brought their questions, their newborn son, and his 7-year-old big sister. Dr. Tomlinson made sure she was part of the visit, taking the time to explain and engage her right alongside her parents.

That's what family-centered care means to us: every question answered, every family member included, and follow-up that continues long after you leave our Center of Excellence. Thank you, Leah, for trusting us with your son's care!

Many providers in the U.S. don't use a pen mark before a circumcision. We do, and we always have.

Recommended by pediatric urologists since 1983, a surgical marking pen is used to draw a precise line on the tissue before the incision is made. It’s one of the simplest ways to prevent a revision, which is a second circumcision procedure to correct problems from the first one, like removing too much fo****in or not removing enough.

At SafeCirc®, the surgical marking pen is a mandatory step of every AccuCirc® procedure, and the difference shows in the numbers: traditional devices like the Gomco clamp, Mogen clamp, and Plastibell have revision rates that run between 2.45% and 2.90%, with corrections sometimes requiring surgery under anesthesia. To date, the SafeCirc revision rate is 0%.

Those aren't odds families should have to contend with, and thanks to one small pen mark and the thoughtful engineering built around it, our families don't have to. Learn more about the AccuCirc® device and how it works: https://www.safecirc.com/

As we celebrate the 4th of July and America's 250th anniversary, we've been thinking about what American innovation looks like in practice.

For us, it looks like our team in Rhode Island designing and manufacturing the tools providers need to deliver consistent, high-quality newborn circumcision care, including our unique newborn positioning system and a state-of-the-art male circumcision training model.

Our AccuCirc® device was developed here, refined here, and validated through peer-reviewed clinical trials. It's earned FDA clearance and WHO prequalification, and it's now helping train providers around the world. Every tool we build, from the device itself to the training curriculum, is designed with one goal: safer outcomes for newborns and their families.

Happy Fourth of July to everyone celebrating this weekend. We're grateful to do this work here.

“From the moment we connected with SafeCirc, we felt informed, respected, and never judged. That was huge for us. They understood that some parents come in with different medical preferences, different concerns, and a lot of questions. We never felt talked down to or treated like difficult parents for wanting to make our own choices. They even went above and beyond to ensure flexibility with scheduling because they knew we were traveling from quite far away.

The procedure itself felt clean, calm, organized, and very well thought out. As a parent, that matters more than I can explain. You are already emotional and protective in that moment, and having people around you who are confident, kind, and steady makes a huge difference.

What stood out most was how peaceful the whole experience felt compared to what we had gone through before. We left feeling like we made the right decision, and that is exactly what you want as a parent.

On a more personal note, the visual result was also noticeably better. It was such a good outcome that even our son’s pediatrician commented that it was a 'remarkable job.' The best word to describe it would be 'perfect.'

I know SafeCirc is expanding, and I truly hope this option becomes more available to families across the country. There are a lot of parents who may be in a similar situation, trying to find the right place, asking the same questions, or feeling like they do not have many choices.

For us, SafeCirc was absolutely worth the drive. We are very grateful we found them, and I would highly recommend them to any family looking for a thoughtful, professional, and peaceful circumcision experience.”

Did you know the United States is the only country in the world that routinely performs circumcision in the first 24 to 48 hours of life? That's not a standard the rest of the world follows, and there's a reason why.

Those early hours and days are critical. Breastfeeding and bonding are still being established, mom is recovering, and baby is adjusting to life outside the womb. Rushing into a procedure during that window can make all of it harder.

At SafeCirc®, we never perform circumcisions in the first 24 hours of life. We schedule your baby's care for after feeding is well-established — up to 28 days of life — so your family has the time and space to focus on what matters most first.
