Taylor doesn’t eat ramen. But her sisters love it so I found a self-serve ramen bar 🍜 So much of our life is shaped around her needs — her schedule, her diet, her sensory world. And that’s okay. That’s our normal. But every now and then, we get to say this one’s for them. She sat at that table and cheered them on like the big sister she is. Moments like this remind me why balance matters — even when it’s imperfect. 💚

My teenager can’t tell me what she wants or needs with words.

So I became fluent in her instead. Now that she’s growing and has the same desire to make her own decisions. I have to spend time focusing on what she is trying to ask for or wants to do. She never grabs and pulls in me while driving but this day she was and to the point that it was dangerous. I wasn’t expecting the sudden tug from behind in my seat belt or bop in the head so I stopped and pulled over to see what was going on.she wanted the sun roof open. Something small like like is huge for me. I love seeing her advocate for herself and I honor her by meeting her request.

No words required. 🤍

Motherhood has levels and today I held all of them at once.

I celebrate without my mom - and that absence doesn’t get easier, it just gets quieter.

I celebrated with my typical developing kids and I received every bit of love with a full heart.

And then there’s my girl. She doesn’t know today is any different. For years I used to wonder how it would feel to hear Happy Mother’s Day. She still expects routine, demands her needs, and showing me that my job will never be done with no days off.

And somehow this is still the most sacred part of my whole day. Her love doesn’t come wrapped in words or occasions. It comes in ways when she settles when I’m near, the way her body can say what her mouth can’t.

If you’re parenting a non-verbal child - you were celebrated. Maybe not in the way the world recognizes, but in the way that matters most.

And if you’re doing it without your own mother - I see you. You carry her with you today.

Happy Mother’s Day to the moms who felt it all. ❤️❤️💙💙

This is the autism mom life. We celebrate HARD and we pivot FAST.

She’s not only started opening the door to the garage to leave but now knows to open the garage door too.

Because our kids don’t stop growing — and neither can we. 💚

Rise and Shine Tay Tay!!! Time for school!

I enjoy these days for her. The CBI (Community Based Intervention) field trips are spent going somewhere local in the community. Nothing major. Today was a trip to the park and then to IHOP but she loves going out and it helps to teach them social skills, how to order food, or other basic interventions.

Many autism parents unspoken fear is…..even when our kids are grown up, they will still need someone. It’s bigger than just get them to adulthood for us.

What helped me with this fear was strengthening my relationship with GOD. I know Taylor will be fine and protected. I also know no one will ever care for her like I will but that’s OK. There are many resources available to prepare for our loved ones care to do your part and leave the in the best care possible.

Special Needs Trust, ABLE accounts, DDA, guardianship, and more. Start working on things now because these things and taking care of yourself is the best gift you can give the for their future.

“If you’re an Autism Mom and you feel like your body is falling apart faster than other women your age — you’re not imagining it.

Chronic stress from caregiving keeps your cortisol elevated. And when cortisol stays high, it steals from your progesterone, crashes your energy, and throws your hormones completely off balance.

You’re not just going through perimenopause. You’re going through it while running on empty. While absorbing your child’s meltdowns. While skipping your own meals and sleep.

Your nervous system has been in survival mode for years. And your body is keeping score.
The exhaustion you feel? It’s not weakness. It’s your body waving a white flag.

The good news? When you understand what’s actually happening inside your body, you can start to restore it.

“That’s exactly what I help Autism Moms do.”

Save this if you needed to hear it. And follow for more support made specifically for you.
