Simply Nurture Lactation + Support LLC turns O N E! 🎂🤍

When I decided to take this leap, I knew I wanted to support moms through breastfeeding and all of the ups and downs of postpartum, but I don’t think I could have imagined just how meaningful this work would become.

SN was born from my own experience as a first-time mom navigating breastfeeding and realizing how much support, reassurance, and guidance can mean. I wanted to be the support I wish I had back then. One year later, I’ve had the privilege of walking alongside families through their wins, challenges, and everything in between. My goal has always been to help moms feel heard, supported, and confident in whatever feeding journey is right for them. This milestone also marks one year at Whole Life Family Chiropractic! A huge thank-you to Dr. Kelly for her warm welcome, guidance, and support this past year. I’m so grateful to have a space to grow this business alongside someone who believes in the work I do!

And to my own little family — thank you for being part of this journey. To my husband Chas, thank you for your patience, encouragement, and all the ways you help me make this dream happen. And to my boy, Canaan, you were the inspiration behind it all. My experience as your mama sparked the desire to be the support other moms deserve, and a little piece of you will always be at the heart of Simply Nurture. 🤍

You can have a plan.
You can read the books.
You can take the classes.
You can picture exactly how you want those first days with your baby to go…

And then baby arrives—and suddenly, things change.

Maybe feeding isn’t going the way you expected.
Maybe something doesn’t feel right.
Maybe you have a question you’re hesitant to ask.
Maybe your gut is telling you that you need a little more support.

Your care team knows what they know—and their knowledge matters. But they don’t know what it feels like to be you.

They may not know what you envisioned for feeding your baby.
They may not know what feels important to you.
They may not know what’s keeping you up at night.
And they certainly can’t feel what your mama intuition is telling you.

You know your baby. And you know yourself.

Your baby may not be able to speak for themselves yet, which means sometimes you have to be their voice and your own.

Ask the question.
Speak up when something doesn’t feel right.
Ask for another explanation.
Tell your care team what your goals are.
Ask for support when you need it.
And remember—you are allowed to be an active part of the decisions being made about you and your baby.

Advocating for yourself doesn’t mean you don’t trust your care team.

It means you’re making sure your voice is part of the team, too. 🤍

Because you’re not just caring for your baby.

You’re caring for you, too, mama.

And sometimes, advocating for both of you is the most nurturing thing you can do.

Some of the BEST questions I hear during a lactation consultation are the ones moms don’t always realize they can ask.

Questions like:

“Is this normal?”

“How do I know if my baby is getting enough?”

“Am I doing this right?”

“Why does feeding feel so difficult?”

“How do I know if I actually have a low supply?”

“Can I breastfeed and use formula?”

“Is it supposed to hurt this much?”

“Why does my baby latch well on one side but struggle on the other?”

“What can I do to make feeding feel more manageable?”

And sometimes the question is simply…

“Can we figure this out without me feeling so overwhelmed?”

YES. 🤍

You don’t have to come to a consultation knowing exactly what’s wrong.

You don’t need to know the right terminology or have a list of questions prepared.

You can simply come with your baby, your concerns, and what you’ve been experiencing.

From there, we can look at the whole picture—feeding, baby’s behavior, latch, milk transfer, pumping, your goals, and most importantly, how YOU are doing.

My goal isn’t to give you a list of things you should be doing.

It’s to listen, problem-solve with you, answer your questions, and help you find a feeding plan that feels realistic for you and your baby.

So bring the questions you’re embarrassed to ask.

Bring the questions you’ve Googled 15 times. 😂

Bring the question that starts with, “This might be a really dumb question, but…”

There are no dumb questions here.

Sometimes the question you almost didn’t ask is the one that helps everything start to make a little more sense. 🤍

The fourth trimester is a HUGE adjustment. 🤍

Your body is healing.
Your hormones are shifting.
Sleep looks completely different.
Your relationships may feel different.
You’re figuring out feeding.
And you’re learning how to care for a tiny human while also trying to figure out who you are now.

And somehow, we’re expected to just… adjust.

Give yourself time. Give yourself grace. And don’t be afraid to ask for support. You don’t have to wait until you’re completely overwhelmed to deserve help.

Mom needs care, too. I can help with that🤍

I’ve really felt a pull lately to talk more about something I don’t think we talk about enough… how Mom is actually doing. 🤍

I have moms come see me who were hesitant to reach out because they felt like they should already know what to do.

“I’m their mom. I should know what they need.”
“I should know how to feed my baby.”
“Why does this feel so hard for me?”

And then there’s that constant question in the back of your mind…

“Am I enough for them?”

These are real things that so many moms struggle with every single day, but we don’t always talk about them. You can love your baby completely and still feel overwhelmed. You can be so thankful for your baby and still need help. And needing someone to listen doesn’t mean you’re not doing a good job.

Honestly, I think moms need more opportunities to just talk. Sometimes you don’t need someone to fix it. You just need someone who will listen, reassure you, and remind you that you’re not alone.

I know there are so many areas where postpartum care could be better, and maternal mental health is one I really want to start talking about more.

So let’s talk about it!

Sometimes the best feeding plan is the one Mom can actually sustain.

I think moms are often given a feeding plan that sounds great in theory… but nobody stops to ask, “Can you realistically do this every day?”

Can you nurse every 2 hours around the clock?
Can you pump after feeds?
Can you wash all those pump parts and bottles?
Can you keep up with supplements or bottles if baby needs them?
Can you function on that little sleep?
Can you mentally and physically keep doing it?

Because feeding your baby isn’t just about what works for baby in the moment. Mom is part of the feeding relationship, too. Sometimes the goal is exclusively breastfeeding. Sometimes the goal is increasing milk supply. Sometimes it’s getting baby more efficient at the breast. Sometimes pumping or combo feeding gives a family the balance they need. And sometimes the plan needs to change as baby grows.

That doesn’t mean you’re failing at it.

It means we’re paying attention to what your family actually needs. I will never believe that there is one perfect feeding plan that works for every mom and baby. My job isn’t to force you into a box. It’s to help you understand what’s happening, problem-solve what’s getting in the way, and create a plan that supports your baby AND you. A feeding plan that looks perfect on paper but leaves Mom completely burned out isn’t necessarily the best plan.

Sustainable matters. Mom matters. Baby matters. And there is room for all three.
