Amen 🙏 Cry out to God first and surrender it all at His feet.

I need to talk to you about something that is killing more believers than any demon, any addiction, or any season of suffering ever could.

You are running in the wrong direction.

When the pressure hits and you feel anxiety starts to rise… when the old temptation starts whispering again… when your marriage feels like it’s on a run away train… when your mind won’t stop racing… when the loneliness sits heavy on your chest… what do you do?

You reach for the phone. And ask google or chat gpt what to do. You scroll or text the person you know you shouldn't. You pour another drink, or open the app you said you deleted....trying to numb the pain...anything to distract yourself right?

Every time you run to those things, you are training your soul to believe that something else can save you faster than Jesus can. I’m not talking to the world right now. I’m talking to the people who say they know Him.

Listen to me.
The enemy doesn’t need to destroy you if he can just keep you busy running to everything except the presence of God.
Scripture says in James 4:8, “Draw near to God, and He will draw near to you.” That’s not a cute Instagram quote. That’s a command with a promise attached.

When the woman with the issue of blood heard Jesus was in town, she didn’t schedule a convenient time. She pushed through the crowd, bleeding, unclean, desperate, and she ran toward the hem of His garment. She didn’t care about the shame. She didn’t care about the people staring. She ran because she knew one touch from Him was better than twelve years of everything else she had tried.
Peter started sinking in the storm, and the Bible says he cried out, “Lord, save me!” He didn’t try to swim harder. He didn’t call the other disciples for a pep talk. He ran with his voice straight to Jesus.
David, after he fell hard, didn’t stay in the pigpen of his failure. He ran back to the mercy of God and wrote, “Create in me a clean heart, O God.”
Church, some of you are still trying to manage what only the blood of Jesus can break. Some of you are still trying to self-soothe what only His presence can quiet. Some of you are still running to temporary relief while the permanent Healer is standing right there with open arms.

I’ve had to learn this the hard way myself. There have been nights when the only safe place left was the floor of my bedroom. When everything in me wanted to run to old patterns, old comforts, old sins… the Spirit would whisper, “Run to Me instead.” "fix your eyes back on me"

And every single time I obeyed, He met me. Not with judgment first. With mercy. With strength. With a fresh hatred for the things that were trying to destroy me. With a deeper love for Him than I had when I walked in.
That’s what happens when you humble yourself before the Lord. You don’t just get temporary relief, you get transformation. You get a new hatred for sin and a new hunger for life and growing closer to Him!

In the morning when your feet hit the floor, run to Him. Stay connected to the vine and you will see. His yoke is easy and His burden is light.

What are you waiting for?

Amen 🙏🏽

I put Philippians 4:13 on my second degree black belt because there were many times I almost quit- too busy at work, too old, too tired, etc. but He told me to keep going. He was teaching me about the importance of perseverance and the oil that comes through the pressing and the strength that comes from resistance. I didn’t care about the end goal anymore- it became about the journey and what He taught me along the way. That is why I used this particular verse for this particular “accomplishment.” Because in the end I never could have done any of it on my own strength- but I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.

“I can do all things [which He has called me to do] through Him who strengthens and empowers me [to fulfill His purpose—I am self-sufficient in Christ’s sufficiency; I am ready for anything and equal to anything through Him who infuses me with inner strength and confident peace.]”
‭‭Philippians‬ ‭4‬:‭13‬ ‭AMP‬‬

Philippians 4:13 may be Christianity’s most athletic Bible verse.

“I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength.”

Put it on a gym shirt.
A locker-room wall.
Get it inked on your arm.

We've turned Paul into a motivational speaker.

Minor problem:
Paul wasn’t talking about winning.

He was writing from prison about contentment.

Right before verse 13, he says he has learned how to live with plenty and with little. Well-fed and hungry. In abundance and in need.

Then:
“I can do all this through him who gives me strength.”

That changes the verse.

The “all things” weren’t all the things Paul could accomplish.

They were all the circumstances he could endure.

Paul wasn’t saying, “Jesus gives me strength to win.”

He was saying, “Jesus gives me strength even when I don’t.”

And if I’m honest, I understand why we prefer the motivational version.

I’d much rather believe Jesus is the co-signer on whatever plan I already made than trust He will still be enough when my plans fall apart.

Our preferred version says:

Dream bigger.
Try harder.
Jesus will help you crush it.

Paul’s version says:

I’ve been hungry.
I’ve had plenty.
I’ve been in need.
I’ve had abundance.

And I learned that my circumstances don’t get to decide whether Christ is enough.

That may not sell as many tank tops.

But it’s considerably better news.

Because sometimes....
You don’t get the job.
A relationship doesn’t survive.
The diagnosis doesn’t change.
Your prayer isn’t answered the way you hoped.

Philippians 4:13 doesn’t mean you failed because you didn’t generate enough Christ-powered strength to make everything work out.

It means Christ can sustain you even here.

Maybe we’ve spent too much time using Philippians 4:13 to tell people what they can accomplish.

Paul was telling us something much deeper about what we can endure.

Philippians 4:13 isn’t the promise that God will help you accomplish everything you want.

It’s the reminder that He can still be enough when you don’t get it.
