She is the lead author or co-author of ten publications regarding prehospital blood or low titer O-positive whole blood (LTOWB). She is the CEO of Schaefer Consulting, LLC. She is the President of the Prehospital Blood Transfusion Coalition and served on the Association for the Advancement of Blood & Biotherapies (AABB) Prehospital Standards Committee.
