Change Requires Consistent Activism. Everyday is a great day to serve. The March on Washington August 28, 2026's "Defend the Vote Rally", is Personal and can be nuanced since 1963.
Miss Black America Pageant Partner, Susan Carter Chavers, has this memorial:
"On August 28,1963 my father participated in The March on Washington. He lived each day as if the words of Martin Luther King, Jr.’s had been planted in his heart, by showing his respect and love for all people.
After graduating from Howard University, he worked as a director of the mental health departments for hospitals and clinics until he ultimately retired for the second time. He and my mother volunteered each week so that they could help feed the hungry. He adopted a child from another country, quit his job as a director of a department at a hospital in Newark, NJ, due to the unjust treatment of patients.
"May we all live each day showing love and compassion for each other".
As a reminder from the
"Miss Black America Pageant", and Somba-Global Partnerships, Martin Luther King became "noticeably" active on the world stage in December 1955, when he was chosen to lead the Montgomery, Alabama Bus Boycott. While he had written about civil rights and been ordained as a minister earlier, this event served as his formal Global entry into prominent, public-facing activism. The Timeline of His Early Activism takes us back to 1946, when at just 17 years old, he wrote a noticeable letter to the editor of The Atlanta Constitution, stating that Black People were entitled to basic rights and equality. In 1954 he became the pastor of Dexter Avenue Baptist Church in Montgomery, Alabama, where he began engaging with local community issues. During, December of 1955, (The Turning Point), following the arrest of Rosa Parks, local organizers formed the Montgomery Improvement Association (MIA). They elected, "King", as their president and spokesperson. This 381-day boycott thrust him directly into the international spotlight and established him as the primary face of the modern Civil Rights Movement. King's Leadership and Specific strategies were developed during the Montgomery boycott. This led to the founding of the SCLC (Southern Christian Leadership Conference)
in 1957. During less than 13 years of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s leadership, the modern American Civil Rights Movement was spearheaded by Organization, Multiple Leadership Platforms not entirely mentioned here today and by the consistency of We, the People. Martin Luther King, Jr. (1929 - 1968) was a U.S. civil rights leader. He was born in Atlanta, Georgia and was the son and grandson of Baptist preachers. His devastating yet meaningful assassination on a Hotel Balcony in Memphis, TN took place in 1968, the same year
the Miss Black America Pageant was inspired, and, founded by J Morris Anderson to Celebrate the Length of our Stature, the Melenin of our Skin, and all of the Textures of our Diversity. Stay tuned to Join the 60th Anniversary Miss Black America Pageant Programming in 2028. MissBlackAmerica.com
