What does “Adaptive” mean?

We get asked this often- to keep it simple it means accessible.

Adaptive might look like:

💚A visual recipe instead of written directions.
💚Using AAC to communicate.
💚Different tools that fit a participant’s motor needs.
💚Taking movement breaks when a body needs regulation.
💚Offering choices so participants have autonomy and control.

The goal isn’t for everyone to complete a task the same way.

The goal is for everyone to participate in a way that honors their strengths, supports their needs, and builds confidence.

We’re strong believers that learning never ends and some of the best learning happens through experience. Practicing regulation in nature.

Developing communication in real life moments.

Cultivating independence through play.

Because when learning feels meaningful, growth follows.

Nature has a way of meeting everyone where they are.
Our Adaptive Agriculture program isn't about becoming a farmer, it's about creating accessible, meaningful experiences that foster curiosity, confidence, communication, and belonging through the world of agriculture.

Because everyone deserves the chance to learn by doing. 💚

Huge thanks to Jessi Larsen, Horse Power Healing Center, Grassway Organics, and East Troy Area Intergenerational Community Center for hosting us and making this experience possible.

First session of Little Chefs Big Skills drew to a close this week…. To say we were humbled by the skills, dedicated, and engagement by these littles is an understatement. Everyone deserves a seat at the table and that’s just what Orchid and Ivy intends to do.

A huge thanks to Incognito Kitchen for not just hosting us but showing a deep sense of care and connection for each child that walked through the door. We couldn’t do this without your generosity!

Growing Roots Clients- tomorrow you'll get to meet these real AND card board animals in person while also trying out our adaptive cow milking experience as well as collecting real eggs from our "chicken coop".

Finding safe ways to introduce animal and agricultural experiences to our neurodiverse children has been so much fun.
