💜 GA Recovers Bus Tour 💜

A huge thank you to Coffee Regional Medical Center for hosting Georgia Recovers in Communities right here in Douglas! We were honored to be a part of such an important conversation surrounding recovery, connection, compassion, and hope.

We were especially proud to have one of our own, MAT Program Manager Madalyn Euson, serve as a panelist on the peer panel. Madalyn shared her perspective on recovery and how Unison Behavioral Health is here to support individuals and families throughout their journey. 💜

We also had several of our Unison staff attend to show their support, connect with community partners, and proudly add their names to the Georgia Recovers bus! 🚌

And a special thank you to Georgia Recovers for traveling throughout our state, bringing these conversations directly into our communities, spreading hope, reducing stigma, and creating opportunities for people to spark the questions, start the conversations, and see recovery in a different light. What you are doing matters!

We truly love being a part of the conversations, partnerships, and opportunities that help support, strengthen, and shape our communities. When we come together, we can remind people that recovery is possible, help is available, and no one has to walk through it alone.

💜 Stronger Than Yesterday: Sarah’s Story 💜

This Recovery Month, we’re sharing something incredibly special.

We sat down with some of our own Peer Support staff who are also mothers and gave them the space to tell their stories — completely raw, real, and honest. No scripts. No perfect words. Just women and mothers sharing where they’ve been, what they’ve overcome, and where recovery has taken them.

Today, we’re honored to introduce the very first video in our Stronger Than Yesterday series: Sarah’s Story.

These stories are about more than recovery. They’re about motherhood, second chances, resilience, growth, and hope. They show that with the right support, recovery is possible — and that where you started does not have to determine where you end up.

Our peers hold a special place at Unison. Their lived experience brings invaluable knowledge and perspective alongside our frontline teams. They’ve walked difficult roads themselves, and that experience allows them to connect with, encourage, and support the people we serve in a truly meaningful way.

Every Friday throughout September, we’ll share the story of another mother on our staff in hopes of reducing stigma, starting conversations, and reminding someone who may be struggling that their story isn’t over.

Today, we begin with Sarah. This is her story. 💜

💜 STORIES OF RECOVERY: ALLEN

Allen’s recovery story is one of second chances, perseverance, faith, and finding stability after a difficult season of life.

When Allen came home from prison, he was facing homelessness and uncertainty about what came next. After experiencing the loss of his mother, his cousin encouraged him to connect with Unison. With the help of his counselor and the support he received, Allen began taking steps toward rebuilding his life.

The road wasn’t always easy. Allen remembers walking while searching for steady employment and facing circumstances that could have caused him to give up. Instead, he kept going. He leaned on his faith, prayer, and the people around him for strength.

Through Unison, Allen received support that helped him obtain an apartment and find greater stability. Today, he is proud of his independence, how far he has come, and the confidence he has gained in himself.

Allen describes himself today as:

Potential. Smart. Determined.

“Having confidence in myself that I can do anything that I put my mind to.”

Allen wants others who may be struggling to know that asking for help can make a difference. His journey can be summed up in one powerful statement:

“Continue to stay focused because I have a purpose.” — Allen

💜 Allen’s story reminds us that a difficult chapter doesn’t have to be the final chapter. Recovery is possible, and every step forward matters.

💜 WEEK 1 — Recovery Is Possible

MYTH vs. FACT: Let’s talk recovery.

One of the most important ways we can reduce stigma is by replacing misconceptions with understanding.

Recovery is possible. With treatment, support, connection, and the right resources, people can and do recover and go on to build healthy, meaningful lives.

This Recovery Month, help us shine a light on recovery and remind others that a person is so much more than their struggles or their past. 💜

🎉 Celebrating 55 Years of Hope, Healing & Recovery! 💙💛

This year, Unison Behavioral Health proudly celebrates 55 years of serving Southeast Georgia! Since 1971, we have grown alongside our communities while remaining committed to creating health and wellness through quality mental health, substance use, and intellectual and developmental disability services.

🌳 To commemorate this milestone, members of Unison’s leadership team gathered at St. Illa Residential to plant a special 55th Anniversary tree. We were honored to have Jade Benefield, Executive Director of the DBHDD Community Service Board Network, join CEO Tiffany Henderson and members of our leadership team for the planting.

Today, 360 Unison employees serve more than 5,000 clients across eight Southeast Georgia counties, providing care and support to children, adults, families, and communities.

Just like the tree planted at St. Illa, our story is rooted in service, strengthened by the people who make our mission possible, and continuing to grow. 🌳💙
