Four years ago, I made the hardest decision of my life. It wasn't made overnight—it was just the final step after years of trying to hold together something that had already been breaking. The last straw had come, and there was no going back without very specific changes that never came.
I stepped into a future that terrified me. I didn't know what life would look like for me or for my boys. I was scared, uncertain, and carrying more than most people will ever know.
Looking back now, I can honestly say I've grown in ways I never imagined. Even some of the people closest to me don't know everything that happened during that season, and that's okay. I'm at peace with being the villain in someone else's story because I know the truth doesn't need to be defended every day. It has a way of revealing itself when the time is right.
I'm now in a place I once thought would take much longer to reach. My life isn't perfect, but it is filled with true unconditional love and safety, —things I once prayed for. I'm still growing. There are parts of me I wish would heal faster, but years of weeds don't disappear overnight. They have to be pulled out by the roots, one by one.
So I'm choosing to tend my garden a little better every day. Progress over perfection. Healing over pretending. And faith that what's being cultivated now will one day bloom into something beautiful.
