SATURDAY THOUGHTS:
I've worn a lot of hats.
Dental Hygienist Janet. Mom Janet. Friend Janet. Then I made my way into being "Jewelry Janet" ... but now I'm here... "Skincare Janet" ... and as I transitioned (rather comfortably I might add) into this role for the last 2 years I want to say this just feels right.
Change has always come easy for me but this was a big step. I left a company I really loved and a business that wasn't really failing, to try something that aligned more with who I was in my mid 50's. I needed high quality skincare that would make a difference and honestly... I just wanted to earn it for free. I wasn't really looking to leave the bling behind and start something new.
Lets just say I fell in love with the company because that's just the truth. Women surrounded me that didn't need me. They were thriving plenty, and we all know I can be a handful. But they honestly saw that I was slightly willing to earn my products for free and just gave me tools and a push to see what would happen. The bigger thing they gave me was what no one paid them for. The feeling that I was welcome and would receive support to do this business right if I wanted it. I wasn't sure I did. They still let me know I'd be part of it if I chose to.
Here I am, two years later, in the middle of a launch of a new product that is changing the way the skincare industry views topical products. What I didn't really expect to happen, happened. I know about skincare now. I really didn't before. I have achieved goals and ranks I never could before in my last business. (actually, without exerting half the energy). I am more confident now, in my abilities, and I've lost that feeling of "spinning my wheels".
I created something. A team. That really wants to do this with me. And they win. Trip earners car earners, paychecks. Its not just me getting the good end of the stick while they flounder wondering what it is they're doing wrong.
If your kids are gone, and your life is filled with just getting through the daily grind, counting the days til retirement, hoping you'll get there in good health, allocating funds for travel when you can, a beach house or a lake house or just scaling down and scaling back... our 50's are the time to do the things we want to do... THIS has added a component of fun to those days for me. Its given me time for personal growth, for added income, for new insight as to who I am and what I can do. I've made new friends. I've put aside things that don't serve me and learned that the best joy in life comes from helping people and watching them "get it"
Take a moment to think about where you are. Do you want more ? Is what you're doing worth the energy? Do you think it could be more? Maybe a shift and a change is something you would consider? My door is open. I hope you walk in.
Comment "JOY" if you think maybe you need a little more.
