A belated July + August recap! Almost none of this summer went the way I planned. Months like this used to scare the s**t out of me and would spiral my anxiety and unleash my annoying old control patterns. Now I say a subtle hello to all of it. I surrender where I can, say “let’s go” to the unknown and prioritize the things and people I love most. And give the rest to God.

We are currently moving to Portugal, so I have been holding these last two months a little differently. Here’s a glimpse of what it looked like :)

Ap and I got dressed up and slipped away for a mini anniversary getaway.

A photo shoot for some exciting upgrades coming to the Pure Joy App! I cannot wait to share.

Finished my official coaching program with Melanie Klein and I feel so grateful and proud of that time.

Ireland. There were major delays and a long list of things that did not go to plan, and I still got to surprise my family on a once in a lifetime trip.

Summer adventures with our favorite family and friends. Dancing and ferris wheels and the kind of nights nobody wants to end.

Hosted a VIP luncheon at my home for Step Up + our incredible CEO Delores Druilhet Morton flew in to inspire us all.

Survived the summer flu, which was humbling and horrible :(

Joined two dear friends on their podcasts, Ryan Weiss | Relationships, Awakening & Growth and Renee Fitton and said tender goodbyes to my besties and closest humans these last 2 weeks (sob!).

The minute my husband walked through the door, I said, "Bye."

He had been gone for five days (and it was an awesome trip I supported him taking!), but while he was away our daughter got sick, missed camp, and wanted me every second of every day. I loved being there for her, but by the time he got home I had absolutely nothing left in the tank.

So we ate something together, I kissed them both, and I said 👋👋👋. Not because I don't want to be with my family. I absolutely do. But I've learned I can't keep showing up for everyone else if I never give myself the chance to recover.

For the next couple of days, dad is on dinner and bedtime while I work from cafés, see my girlfriends, move my body, and enjoy a little quiet.

I've stopped feeling guilty about this. About needing that space. It doesn't make me a less devoted mom. It helps me be a better one.

Tell me I'm not the only one. 🤍

There is a kind of work that drains you and a kind that fills you all the way up. For a long time I could not tell the two apart. I would get home from events and often feel drained but also filled up.

I have spent more of my life around microphones and stages than I ever planned to or imagined. After I stopped doing reiki and healing at events and started to let my voice and my words guide me instead, something HUGE shifted. Speaking and leading events stopped being the “thing” I do for work and became the thing I know God brought me here for. It does not take from me. It gives back tenfold.

So when Sabrina Soto | Interior Design & Inner Work pulled me into her first ever The Home Within retreat and handed me the mic, there was nothing to weigh. My whole body had already said yes.

The older I get the more I trust that quiet inner nudge. What things to go to, what people to say yes to, what events to attend, what places to travel to, what friends to ignite life with and in between all of these, I am equally and sometimes quietly shown what things and people to say no to. This part of me has yet to lead me somewhere I regret. Thank you, Sabrina, for trusting yourself and letting me do my thing.

When has a last-minute yes changed everything for you?

I am having a hard time pinpointing exactly why, but I just know this summer is feeling different…

We are usually the family that travels in the summer and has lots of fun plans. Since we’re moving to Portugal in September, we decided to minimize summer travel and it’s made me feel lonely.

And if I’m being extra honest, it also made me question our life in LA and if it’s where we want to be long-term. I realize more than ever how essential community is to me and our family. Not having as much of it this summer has put a lot of question marks in our path, like: Do we have the kind of community we thought we did? Why do I feel so lonely in certain moments this summer? Is my connection to my loved ones as strong as I thought it was?

And then - like an act of divine intervention - I talked to a couple of my best friends that same week and realized they have been feeling THE EXACT SAME thing. Even the ones who have been traveling. And all felt OK again because your true community has a way of shining through, especially when you feel alone.

If you’ve been feeling the same way, I’m right there with you. Maybe there are more of us than we realize. 🤍 And, let’s remember that nothing is permanent. This too shall shift :)
