There are seasons when nothing is necessarily wrong… but you don’t quite feel like yourself anymore.
Maybe the roles that once defined you are shifting.
Parent. Partner. Professional. Caregiver.
And underneath all of those roles, a quieter question can begin to surface:
Who am I now?
You don’t have to have the answer yet.
Sometimes a new chapter begins with simply noticing the question.
If you’re navigating a life transition and want support making sense of what’s changing, we’re here.

We’re excited to share something new.

Our Ask a Therapist series is moving to video.

Instead of only reading the answers, you’ll soon be able to hear directly from Tammy and the Coastal team as they talk through the questions people ask us every day — from anxiety and relationships to life transitions, parenting, stress, boundaries, and more.

Our goal is simple: make trusted mental health guidance feel more personal, approachable, and useful.

Ask a Therapist: The Video Series is coming soon.

They’re ready. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy.

Watching your child leave for college can bring pride, excitement—and a lot of uncertainty for everyone involved.

New routines. New expectations. More independence. More distance.

Sometimes young adults need support while they find their footing.

They’re finding their way. And they don’t have to do it alone.

Nothing has changed yet… so why do you already feel anxious?
Sometimes our minds begin reacting to a transition long before it actually happens.
A new job. A move. A breakup. Retirement. A child leaving home. A medical appointment. Even a change we genuinely wanted.
Change disrupts predictability, and the uncertainty of what comes next can bring overthinking, trouble sleeping, irritability, second-guessing and the urge to avoid the change altogether.
One important reminder:
You can be grateful for what’s coming and still grieve what you’re leaving behind.
Preparing for change isn’t only about calendars, boxes and plans. It can also mean thinking about what you’re excited about, what you’re afraid of, what you’ll miss and what you may need more of during the transition.
Take a look through this week’s carousel for a few ways to prepare emotionally for change.
Sometimes you don’t need everything to stay the same. You just need something that still feels like you.

We hear “I’m triggered” everywhere now.
But feeling annoyed, offended, frustrated, or uncomfortable isn’t always the same as experiencing a trauma trigger.
A true trigger can activate the brain and body in a way that feels connected to a past threatening or traumatic experience — sometimes before you even understand why you’re reacting so strongly.
That doesn’t mean everyday emotions are less valid.
You can be angry. Hurt. Uncomfortable. Frustrated.
Your feelings don’t need a clinical label to matter.
Sometimes the more helpful question is:
“What am I actually feeling — and what is this reaction trying to tell me?”

Have you ever opened your banking app… and then closed it before looking at the number?
You’re not the only one.
With credit card debt sitting near record highs, a lot of people are carrying more than a balance. They’re carrying fear, shame, sleepless nights, avoidance, and the feeling that they somehow failed.
This week’s Ask a Therapist came from a question we think many people can relate to:
“I’ve been avoiding checking my credit card balance because it makes me so anxious. I know ignoring it isn’t helping, but every time I think about looking, I feel sick. Why does debt affect me this much?”
Tammy’s answer starts with something important:
Money is rarely just money.
It can represent safety.
Stability.
Taking care of your family.
Being able to handle what comes next.
That’s why financial uncertainty can trigger a very real emotional response — and why avoiding the balance can feel easier in the moment.
But avoidance often makes the anxiety grow.
The goal doesn’t have to be fixing everything today.
Sometimes the first step is simply looking at the number, taking a breath, and reminding yourself:
Your balance is a record of past transactions.
It is not a report card on your worth.
Financial stress is emotional stress, too.
👉 Swipe through for Tammy’s full answer.
Save this post for the next time financial stress starts to feel personal — and share it with someone who may need the reminder that their debt does not define them.

Monday came fast. And sometimes the stress started before the alarm did.
The emails. The schedule. The responsibilities. The mental list that never really seems to turn off.
You don’t have to wait until you’re completely overwhelmed to ask for support.
Therapy can give you a place to slow things down, sort through what you’re carrying, and find a healthier way forward.
