In his latest book, β€œThe Meaning of Your Life,” Arthur Brooks argues that in trying to avoid discomfort, we’ve inadvertently eliminated some of the meaning in our lives.

The solution, he said, is counterintuitive: It involves embracing a little more struggle.

Arthur Brooks has counterintuitive advice for people who want to be happier: embrace suffering.

Sometimes the words β€œI’m fine” are the only words someone can find.

Keep checking in. Stay patient. Create a safe space where people know they don’t have to pretend.

A simple conversation can remind someone they don’t have to carry everything alone. πŸ’›

A special thank you to our incredible speakers, Sean Degnan and Julian Giebelhaus, for sharing their voices at our 8th Annual Into the Light Walk. πŸ’š

Sean inspired us with his powerful message of resilience, hope, and the importance of speaking openly about mental health. His words reminded us that even in our darkest moments, there is always a path forward.

We also thank fellow PHS student-athlete Julian Giebelhaus for courageously sharing his experience with anorexia. By telling his story with honesty, compassion, and grace, Julian helped raise awareness about eating disorders and reminded others that seeking help is a sign of strength, not weakness.

Thank you both for helping break the stigma surrounding mental health and for encouraging meaningful conversations that can change lives.
