Life gets a little easier when we stop trying to control things that were never ours to control in the first place.
We can't control what other people say, do, think, or choose. We can't make someone apologize, change, or treat us the way we wish they would. What we can control is how we respond.
We can set boundaries. We can decide how much energy we give a relationship. We can choose who has access to our lives. We can decide what kind of person we want to be, regardless of what others do.
If you're feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, or hurt, try asking yourself: "Is this something I can control, influence, or do I need to let it go?"
Sometimes protecting your peace starts with knowing the difference. Be kind to yourself. Focus on what is yours to carry, and put down what isn't.
