Back-to-School Reproductive Health Priorities
Back-to-school season is a good time to reset healthy routines — including reproductive health.
As students return to class, work, sports, and busy schedules, it helps to be prepared, informed, and supported.
Here are a few important reminders:
âś… Manage periods and hygiene
Pack extra pads, tampons, or period supplies in your backpack. Track your cycle with a calendar or phone app. Talk with a healthcare provider if periods are very painful, very heavy, or irregular.
âś… Understand prevention
Condoms can help protect against both pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections. Birth control methods like pills, shots, implants, IUDs, or other options mainly help prevent pregnancy.
âś… Schedule preventive visits
Annual check-ups are important. A visit with a pediatrician, family doctor, or gynecologist can include vaccines like HPV, STI testing, birth control questions, and general reproductive health support.
âś… Know your boundaries
Healthy relationships include respect, clear communication, and ongoing consent. No one should feel pressured, controlled, or unsafe.
âś… Use confidential support
It is okay to ask questions. Trusted healthcare providers, confidential helplines, and age-appropriate online resources can help with questions about health, consent, relationships, and prevention.
Start the school year informed, prepared, and supported. We can HELP.
