Your mitochondria carry a story that began long before you. 🧬✨

Mitochondrial DNA is inherited almost exclusively from our mothers—which means the mitochondria you carry today trace back through your maternal lineage.

But here’s the part I find especially powerful: how we care for our mitochondrial health today may have implications beyond our own health.

Nutrition, movement, sleep, stress, environmental exposures, and metabolic health all influence mitochondrial function. And emerging research into mitochondrial inheritance and the health of eggs reminds us that the environment surrounding our cells matters.

You didn’t just inherit your mitochondria.

You’re caring for a cellular legacy.

Supporting your mitochondria today isn’t only about having more energy right now. It’s about protecting the cellular systems that support you throughout your life—and, for women who have biological children, influencing the mitochondrial health passed to the next generation.

Take care of your mitochondria. They have been passed down through generations.🧬

WE NEED MORE VOLUNTEERS IN SPOKANE!

IHAN + Volunteer Fire Foundation were invited by Spokane Incident Command leadership to provide acute, integrative medical support for firefighters and first responders during the wildfire response. We are now embedded at the Spokane Fairgrounds basecamp as part of the Incident Command response infrastructure, and we’ll be here providing care through Thursday, August 13.

And the need is real. In just four hours today, our rockstar volunteer team provided over 250 treatments to firefighters here at basecamp. And we’re running a second shift tonight.

Firefighters are incredibly appreciative to receive these treatments. We’re so grateful to hear people sharing that they can feel the impact of the treatments immediately, whether it’s support for smoke exposure and respiratory health, detoxification, stress, sleep, nervous system regulation, or overall recovery.

Now we need more hands. 🙏

We’re looking for NDs, RNs, NPs, MDs, DOs, licensed mental health therapists, certified HeartMath practitioners, acupuncturists, and admin/front desk volunteers.

WA + CA licensed providers are welcome. NDs licensed in other states, please reach out directly if you would like to volunteer.

This is deeply rewarding, hands-on work and a unique opportunity to support firefighters right where they are, during an active wildfire response. If you can give us a shift, a day, or several days, we would love to have you.

You MUST register and complete IHAN’s volunteer vetting process before joining the response.

👉 Register through the link in our bio or scan the QR code.

Please share this widely with your networks in Washington and California. Every additional volunteer means more firefighters can receive care while we’re here. ❤️‍🔥

✨ Kinda chic to heal

Healing isn’t about perfection—it’s about finally giving your body what it’s been asking for all along.

If you’ve been told your labs are “normal” but you still feel exhausted, brain foggy, or like you’ve lost yourself... this is your reminder that your symptoms deserve answers.

💙 Save this for the days you need the reminder.

🚨 If you’re tired of being told “everything looks normal” while you feel anything but, you’re in the right place.

My mission is simple: to help you understand the why behind your symptoms.

Here, we talk about:
✨ Chronic fatigue
✨ Brain fog
✨ Hormones
✨ Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)
✨ Lyme disease
✨ Mold illness
✨ Mitochondrial health
✨ The nervous system
✨ Root-cause medicine backed by science

Because healing doesn’t start with another bandage—it starts with understanding what’s driving your symptoms in the first place.

If you’re ready to stop chasing symptoms and start finding answers, I’d love to have you here.

👇 Tell me in the comments: What symptom brought you here—fatigue, brain fog, anxiety, hormone issues, or something else?

💙 Save this post so you can come back to it when you need a reminder that you deserve answers, and share it with someone who’s been told “everything looks normal” but knows something isn’t right.

So many people with chronic fatigue are asking the wrong question.

“What supplement should I add next?”
“What therapy should I try?”
“What protocol am I missing?”

Those questions keep you chasing symptoms instead of finding answers.

The question that changed everything in my practice was this:

✨ “What is preventing the body from healing and operating in a healthy pattern?” ✨

Your body was designed to heal—but it can’t thrive when it’s overwhelmed by hidden infections, mold exposure, chronic stress, nutrient depletion, inflammation, hormone imbalances, or a dysregulated nervous system.

Instead of constantly adding more, we have to uncover what’s standing in the way.

When we remove the obstacles and restore the body’s terrain, healing becomes possible.

👇What do you think is burdening your body from healing?

If you’ve tried breathwork, meditation, vagal exercises, therapy, or every supplement for anxiety—but your body still feels stuck in fight-or-flight—it may be time to ask a different question:

What if your nervous system is responding exactly as it was designed to?

Mold exposure can trigger a powerful inflammatory response in susceptible individuals. Certain mold toxins (mycotoxins) have been shown to increase oxidative stress, activate immune cells, and promote the release of inflammatory cytokines. These signals can affect the brain and autonomic nervous system, contributing to symptoms such as anxiety, panic attacks, hypervigilance, insomnia, heart palpitations, and a constant feeling of being “on edge.”

Your body isn’t trying to sabotage you—it may be trying to protect you.

If your brain perceives your environment as unsafe, your nervous system may remain in survival mode until that threat is addressed. While nervous system regulation practices can be incredibly valuable, they often work best when paired with identifying and removing ongoing stressors, including environmental exposures when present.

If you’ve been experiencing unexplained anxiety, panic attacks, or a feeling that you just can’t “calm down,” consider looking beyond symptom management and asking why your nervous system is sounding the alarm.

Healing isn’t just about learning to relax.
Sometimes it’s about discovering what your body has been trying to tell you all along.
