TRAUMA MASSAGE 🤍
Trauma isn’t only something we remember in our minds.
Sometimes, the body remembers too.
After experiencing prolonged stress, fear, abuse, grief, or trauma, the nervous system can learn to stay on high alert. Muscles may remain guarded. The jaw may stay clenched. Shoulders may live up around the ears. Breathing can become shallow. Pain and tension can become so familiar that we forget what truly relaxed feels like.
Trauma-informed massage isn’t about forcing the body to “release” something.
It’s about creating an environment where your body feels safe enough to soften.
That can mean:
✨ Gentle, intentional touch
✨ Respecting boundaries and consent
✨ Allowing the client to remain in control
✨ Working with the nervous system instead of against it
✨ Recognizing that tension may be protective, not simply “tight muscles”
✨ Giving the body time to respond rather than forcing a result
Sometimes the most healing thing we can offer a body that has spent years protecting itself is safety, patience, and permission to let go.
Your body is not betraying you.
It has been trying to protect you.
Trauma-informed massage honors that. 🤍
The goal isn’t to overpower the body.
The goal is to help it remember that it is safe.
