TEEN ONLINE OCD COMMUNITY!!

I often work with people struggling with OCD, and I wanted to share about an online community specifically for teens and siblings of teens who have OCD:

I'm so excited to share that, as part of the IOCDF’s Pediatric Task Force, I’ve helped launch a new Youth Ambassador Program!

The program empowers young people with OCD and related disorders to share their experiences, raise awareness, advocate for the OCD community, and help other young people feel less alone. The program is open to teens ages 12–17 who have OCD or a related disorder, as well as those who have a sibling with OCD or a related disorder.

I’m excited to see this initiative come to life and wanted to share it with fellow OCD specialists who work with children and adolescents. If you have young clients who might be interested in getting involved, I encourage you to check out the program and share it with families!

What a great resource!

Lately I’ve been trying all kinds of things that make me a tad uncomfortable since there’s so much to discover in embracing anxiety/uncertainty. Below is a plug for an experience like that which I found especially beneficial:

Just want to put a plug out there for Flying Pig Improv. I learned there is a lot more to improv than clever lines and funny scenes. Went to a free class this morning to try it out and it’s FULL of skills we talk about in therapy with built in explicit safety and encouragement to “fail.” If you want to learn:

Creating a different relationship with anxiety

Noticing your own experience

Reducing inner criticism

Embracing discomfort for growth

Making mistakes and moving on

Giving yourself permission to be present with what’s in front of you instead of always thinking ahead

Learning to have fun again and be playful
