Healing can begin when we stop judging our reactions and start listening to what they may be trying to tell us.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) helps us understand the different “parts” within us, including the parts that carry pain, manage emotions, or step in to protect us during difficult experiences. Rather than trying to silence these parts, IFS encourages us to approach them with curiosity, compassion, and a deeper understanding of the roles they have taken on.

Ready to explore your own internal system? Join us for the next PARTS workshop, September 21–25, at Rio Retreat Center at The Meadows.

We’re proud to share that our President, Jaime Vinck, MC, LPC, NCC, has been named a finalist for the Phoenix Business Journal’s 2026 Healthcare Heroes Awards in the Healthcare Education category.

Throughout her career, Jaime has been committed to helping professionals, patients, and families better understand addiction, trauma, mental health, recovery, and the treatment process. She has also been a strong advocate for the people behind that care, championing clinician education, mentorship, and provider well-being.

This recognition is especially meaningful because it reflects the important place behavioral health holds within the broader healthcare community. It also recognizes that continued education, professional development, and support for clinicians are essential to strengthening the care we provide.

We’re grateful for Jaime’s leadership and proud to see her work and behavioral health represented among this year’s Healthcare Heroes finalists.

Congratulations, Jaime!

Being able to treat active-duty military and veterans is not the same as being truly prepared to understand them.

For behavioral health organizations, veteran readiness requires more than offering the right services. It means understanding military culture, language, experiences, and the ways symptoms may present differently in those who have served.

That cultural competency can shape everything from the questions we ask to the trust we build and, ultimately, how effectively someone engages in care.

Erie Hebert, LCSW-S, Captain (USA, Ret.), Executive Director, Meadows Outpatient Services-Austin & Houston, shares what it means to be a Veteran Ready Organization and why The Meadows has become increasingly deliberate about strengthening care for active-duty service members, veterans, and their families.

Because specialized care starts with understanding the person and the culture behind their experience.

For 50 years, The Meadows has helped individuals and families reclaim hope, build resilience, and achieve meaningful, lasting recovery.

Since 1976, our work has been grounded in trauma-focused, patient-centered care, clinical excellence, and a commitment to continually evolving alongside the needs of the people we serve. That legacy has been strengthened by the clinicians, referents, partners, alumni, and team members who have shared in our mission and trusted us with the care of their clients and communities.

Throughout 2026, we are bringing our community together at 50th Anniversary celebrations across The Meadows. We invite our professional partners to join us as we honor five decades of changing lives, celebrate the relationships that have made this work possible, and look ahead to the future of behavioral healthcare.

Could a medication originally designed for diabetes and weight loss also help reduce cravings in addiction recovery?

In this recent FOX10 Phoenix interview, Dr. Aaron Wilson, Meadows Chief Medical Officer, discussed emerging research on GLP-1 medications and their potential role in treating substance use disorders.

Early clinical findings and growing observational data suggest these medications may do more than regulate appetite. They appear to influence the brain’s reward pathways, potentially helping to “quiet the noise” that drives compulsive behaviors tied to alcohol, ni****ne, and other substances.

Researchers are now exploring whether that same mechanism may extend across multiple forms of addiction, including stimulants and opioids, and even certain behavioral addictions.

This is not a replacement for established treatment. At The Meadows, GLP-1s could play a role in supporting recovery treatment. Like any therapy modality, they are considered only as part of a comprehensive, medically supervised approach that includes trauma work, psychiatric care, nutrition support, and structured clinical programming.

The science is still evolving. But the conversation is shifting quickly toward more personalized, biologically informed approaches to recovery.
