That’s a wrap on a great summer semester for our University of the Cumberlands DPT students!

Our first-year students finished the summer with an on-campus lab immersion featuring Clinical Neuroscience, Pathophysiology, Integrated Case Study, and Musculoskeletal Practice II. It was exciting to see them putting their knowledge and clinical skills into action!

Our second-year students completed their second full-time clinical education experience and the first 8 weeks of their 23-week NPTE preparation as they continue working toward graduation and the national licensure exam.

There’s not much time to rest because Monday brings the next challenge! Our first-year cohort begins fall semester courses, while our second-year students begin their final 15-week clinical education experience.

We are incredibly proud of our students and excited about what comes next! If you’re considering a career in physical therapy, maybe your DPT journey could begin at University of the Cumberlands!

The Connie D. Hauser Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) Program is a professional graduate program with a dynamic curriculum that includes courses in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, neuroscience, and social psychology, among others. As a student in the program, you will engage in self-guided online coursework, live classes in a virtual classroom, and hands-on training on campus. The curriculum includes didactic (book-learning) coursework, immersive experiences, clinical education, and practical training in various practice settings. In just two years of full-time classes, you could learn everything you need to know to become a licensed DPT.
Join staff from the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program for a virtual or in-person information session to learn more about the program and the application process.
Representatives from our program will present an overview of the program and answer questions you have concerning admissions. Information sessions will be held in a virtual format. Once you are registered, you will receive a link for remote sessions.

What a great way to close out Summer Immersion I!

We celebrated two exciting milestones in the University of the Cumberlands Doctor of Physical Therapy Program as we sent the Class of 2026 off to their second full-time clinical education experience and recognized the Class of 2027 for reaching the halfway point of their first year of PT school.

From outstanding hands-on learning experiences to our annual DPT Program Cookout, Summer Immersion I was filled with learning, growth, and fellowship. We are proud of our students and look forward to all they will accomplish in the months ahead!
