After being harvested from the field and "cured", the to***co was carried to a to***co warehouse where it could be purchased by the large companies making ci******es. One photo shows the piles of to***co in the warehouse. The second photo shows the to***co being sold to the various to***co processing firms. The men would walk beside the piles of to***co and "bid" on the pile. An auctioneer would control the bidding. You can see one hand raised to indicate the to***co company's desire to purchase the pile being sold.

These pictures show people harvesting, "picking", peanuts with the old method. Peanuts were plowed from the ground, allowed to dry some, and then stacked around a pole for further drying. Then, they were thrown into the picker by a man using a pitchfork. It was very labor-intensive. The year is unknown but probably prior to 1955. .
