Exciting glaucoma news at Buffalo Ophthalmology.
This morning, we started our first patients on ZOLYMBUS™, a newly FDA-approved glaucoma medication, through Théa Pharma’s ZOLYMBUS First Sight Program. This early access program allows selected patients to receive ZOLYMBUS before it is broadly available.
ZOLYMBUS is a preservative-free bimatoprost ophthalmic gel used to help lower eye pressure in patients with open-angle glaucoma or ocular hypertension. Bimatoprost has been used in glaucoma care for many years, but this new preservative-free gel formulation gives doctors and patients another option — especially for patients who may be sensitive to preservatives or who need long-term glaucoma drop therapy.
We are proud to be among the early practices in the country participating in this program and pleased to bring this new treatment option to patients here in Western New York.
Glaucoma treatment is never one-size-fits-all. The best choice depends on each patient’s eye pressure, stage of glaucoma, medication tolerance, eye surface comfort, and long-term vision goals.
Shared with patient permission.
