June is Men's Health Month.

Who's checking on Black men?

Black men are more likely to die from heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and several cancers than many other populations. Men are also far more likely to die by su***de than women.

That's why this month matters.

If you're a Black man, make the appointment. Get your blood pressure checked. Know your numbers. Talk to a therapist. Check in on your mental health.

Real strength is taking care of yourself before the crisis, not pushing through pain.

Healthy Black men are essential to healthy Black families and healthy Black communities.

You deserve more than survival. You deserve a long, healthy, joyful life.

Black Mothers In Power presents: You Gon’ Learn - Black Maternal Health + Family Care

No more sitting in doctor’s offices being ignored, talked over, or left confused with no real support. We’re building spaces that actually center Black mothers and Black families.

We’re going to talk about real-life things you can actually use:
• How to speak up for yourself in healthcare without shrinking
• Babywearing, cloth diapering, and ways to stretch your money
• Medical racism in pregnancy, birth, and everyday care
• Growing food at home and building healthier family routines
• Supporting Black fathers and strengthening the whole household

Everything here is meant to be usable in real life, not just information you hear and forget.

Register here: www.bmip.org/events

We’re also looking for facilitators! If your knowledge comes from lived experience and community care, we want to hear from you.

Mamas, this is your reminder: Your softness is sacred. Your tenderness is power.

You don’t have to harden yourself to be respected. You don’t have to shrink your feelings to be seen as strong.

The way you love your children, the way you show up with care, the way you still have a soft heart in a hard world - that is not something to fix. That is something to protect.

Today, choose one thing that brings you back to yourself. Rest your body. Move slower. Let someone else carry something for once. Speak gently to yourself.

You are not just here to hold everyone - you are allowed to be held too.

Softness is not the opposite of strength. It is the evidence of it.

Rent is up. Lights, water, gas - everything keeps jumping. And Black mothers in Delaware are being asked to stretch money like it’s magic.

Let’s be real: it’s not.

But struggle doesn’t get to be the final word.

Black Mothers In Power put together real, local housing and utility resources for exactly this. Rent relief. Utility help. Emergency support. The kind of assistance that actually matters when things are tight and survival is the priority.

If you’re feeling the pressure right now, you don’t have to carry it alone or “figure it out” in silence. There are options. Take what you need, when you need it.

Black mothers and families shouldn’t have to deal with systems that show up when it’s convenient and disappear when things get hard. We need support that stays, people who follow through, and care that doesn’t cut off when things get real.

Black Mothers In Power and We Mean Business bring community partners together every month to stay connected, share resources, and strengthen recovery support for Black mothers, children, and families in Delaware.

Next meeting: June 18th (Zoom)
Featured Partner: Delmarva Wrestling Digest

If you work with or support Black mothers, families, and communities in Delaware, join us every 3rd Thursday at 10AM!

Ever had to make a small grocery run stretch for days… and it still wasn’t enough?

That’s the situation too many Black moms and families in Delaware are being pushed into right now. Prices up. Pay not matching it. Fridge empty too soon.

If food has been tight lately, this is for you. No shame. No questions. Just support.

Come get what you need for your home.

Bring proof you live in Delaware (ID, utility bill, or EBT card).

In Delaware, Black infants die at roughly 2-3 times the rate of white infants, and Black mothers continue to face the highest risks in pregnancy and birth outcomes in the state.

These numbers don’t come from nowhere. They reflect uneven access to care, support, and early resources.

Black Mothers In Power has launched our Vitamin Angels Program in Delaware to respond directly to that gap - providing free prenatal vitamins for Black mothers so basic prenatal support is accessible early, not after problems show up.

Prenatal vitamins are not extra. They are part of a healthy start for pregnancy and baby.

If you’re pregnant or know a Black mother who should be connected, apply here: https://bit.ly/49f2sww

Black women are not “at risk.” We are being failed - in real time, in clinics and hospitals every day.

That doesn’t change just because people are aware. It changes when support is actually in the room with us.

That’s where Doulas come in.

Doulas are trained to stay present. To slow things down when everything around birth wants to speed it up. To support Black mothers and families through pregnancy, birth, and postpartum.

This interest meeting is for people who want to understand what Doula work really looks like in practice - what the training is, and how it shows up in real life care and community support.
