Please meet our newest Gold Star of Patient Care award winner, Sammantha Stacy of Surgical Services!

This award shines a spotlight on one of the many people who provide great care and an exceptional patient experience in our facility.

A recent patient shared this story about Sammantha: "I had surgery at Wilson Medical Center. Upon waking up in my room after surgery there was Sammantha, my nurse. She provided great care as my nurse! I cannot say enough good things about her! She was super warm and friendly!"

Congratulations, Sammantha! We're glad that you are part of the Surgical Services team!

During Nurses Week earlier this month, we relaunched our DAISY Award program for exceptional nurses! This national program honors nurses who are nominated at facilities for outstanding service and patient care.

In addition, we unveiled a sculpture in honor of the program. You can see it next to our front entrance.

Our first quarterly DAISY winner is Tonya Mayo! A stone inscribed with her name has been placed in front of the sculpture.

With a healthcare journey that began in May 2018 as a Certified Child Life Specialist supporting NICU families through both joyful and difficult moments, she later followed her calling to nursing and has served in a variety of specialties including NICU, Med-Surg, Emergency Department, Step-Down, Palliative Care, Detox Care, and now Women’s Services at Wilson Medical Center.

Her compassion is deeply rooted in both professional and personal experiences, allowing her to provide extraordinary care and comfort to patients and families during life’s most meaningful moments. She describes Women’s Services as her “forever nursing home,” where she’s able to truly be the nurse she was meant to be.

We're glad you're here, Tonya, and congratulations!
