🚑✨ Please join us in welcoming to American Medical Response Heath Williams as the new Operations Manager for AMR Barrow! 👏

Heath Williams is an accomplished Emergency Medical Services leader with more than 30 years of experience in prehospital emergency care, EMS operations, and EMS Leadership. As Operations Manager for AMR Barrow, he oversees EMS operations, workforce development, operational readiness, and strategic initiatives that support high-quality patient care and community service.

Throughout his career, Heath has been recognized for his ability to build high-performing teams, improve operational efficiency, and successfully lead organizational change. He is passionate about mentoring future leaders, developing innovative solutions to complex operational challenges, and fostering a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement.

He spent 29 years with the Barrow County Fire Department as the Deputy Fire Chief and joined GMR in 2023 where he served as the Program Manager for Air Evac 117 in Snellville until being named Operations Manager for AMR Barrow.

A Certified EMS Director through the Georgia EMS Leadership Alumni Association, Heath is dedicated to advancing the EMS profession through leadership development, employee engagement, and patient-centered care. His experience spans ground ambulance operations, air medical services, program management, workforce development, and emergency response system improvement.

In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with his family and enjoys playing golf. “Heath has been in Barrow County his entire life and raised a family in this community. He has a vested interest in this community, and it is a great honor for him to continue to serve the community where he lives” he said.

Heath remains committed to strengthening EMS systems, supporting caregivers, and ensuring the delivery of safe, reliable, and exceptional service to the communities he serves.

⚠️ Severe Weather Safety Reminder – Lightning Awareness

AMR Barrow would like to remind the community that lightning is a common and dangerous weather hazard, especially during the summer months. As severe weather approaches, taking a few simple precautions can help keep you and your loved ones safe.

Our crews stand ready to answer the call and provide care to our communities at a moment's notice. While we remain committed to serving others during emergencies, we encourage everyone to stay weather-aware and take steps to protect themselves when thunderstorms develop.

🌩 Seek Shelter Immediately
If you hear thunder or see lightning, move indoors or into a hard-topped vehicle right away. Avoid open areas such as parks, lakes, athletic fields, and golf courses.

⏳ Wait It Out
Stay sheltered for at least 30 minutes after the last clap of thunder before returning outdoors.

⚡ Avoid Conductors
During a thunderstorm, avoid using corded phones, electrical appliances, and plumbing whenever possible.

🌳 Stay Away from Tall Objects
If you are caught outside, move away from trees, utility poles, and other tall structures that could attract lightning.

🛡️ Protect Yourself
If shelter is unavailable, crouch low with your head down and hands on your knees. Do not lie flat on the ground.

📱 Stay Informed
Monitor local weather forecasts and alerts, and be prepared to act quickly when severe weather is expected.

Your safety is important. By staying informed and following these simple precautions, we can all help reduce the risk of lightning-related injuries.

🎉 AMR Barrow is proud to welcome Marlana Crews as our new Clinical Education Specialist! 🎉

She brings 15 years of experience in public safety, including the fire service, helicopter and ground EMS. Prior to joining AMR, she served as the Quality Assurance and Training Coordinator for Barrow County EMS at Northeast Georgia Health System.

Marlana holds a Paramedic License, EMS Instructor License, National Registry Certification, FP-C certification, and a Bachelor's Degree in Emergency Medical Care from Western Carolina University.

A dedicated leader in EMS education, Marlana actively serves on Region 10's Education Committee and Performance Improvement Committee and represents Region 10 on the State Office of EMS Education Consortium.

Her expertise in quality assurance, process improvement, and program implementation, coupled with her passion for education and leadership, will help strengthen clinical excellence and support the growth and development of our teams.

As a member of the community she serves, Marlana brings a personal commitment to delivering high-quality patient care and operational excellence. We are excited to have her on board and look forward to the positive impact she will make across AMR Barrow and beyond.
