Walking In Beauty ✨

Last week the Navajo Division of Behavioral & Mental Health Services (DBMHS) and Tribal Opioid Response (TOR) Program participated in both Kids Day and Elder Fest at the 40th Annual Central Agency Fair in Chinle, AZ.

Our Outreach/Prevention team provided mental health resources, swag, and interactive activities including a fruit scramble with healthy snacks.

We thank the Office of Diné Youth (ODY) and the Division of Aging & Long Term Care Support (DALTCS) for hosting these free, community events! Ahéhee’ 🙏🏽

“Navajo Healing Navajo” Day ❤️🪶🫂

Join us at the 78th Annual Navajo Nation Fair for a day of healing, culture, and community wellness.

In partnership with the Navajo Department of Health, Navajo Division of Behavioral & Mental Health Services (DBMHS) presents “Navajo Healing Navajo” Day Gourd Dance & Health Fair at Navajo Square – Tent A, Navajo Nation Fairgrounds in Window Rock, AZ on Friday, September 11, 2026.

This in-person, outdoor event will feature onsite registration, education presentations, and local health resources. All gourd dancers, societies, and royalty are welcome.

Join the New Mexico Department of Health for a FREE virtual Overdose Recognition & Response Training on Wednesday, August 5, 2026.

From 11:00 a.m.–12:00 p.m., community members will learn how to recognize the signs of an overdose, respond safely, administer nasal naloxone in an emergency, and understand how overdoses happen.

Participants who complete the training will receive a naloxone kit by mail. Spanish interpretation will also be available.

Back To School Blessings 🍎📚💪🏽

In partnership with the Navajo Department of Health, Good Health and Wellness in Indian Country hosted the 3rd Annual Back to School Blessings Gourd Dance & Health Fair at the Navajo Nation Veteran’s Memorial Pow Wow Arena in Window Rock, AZ on July 22, 2026.

Participating students received a backpack with school supplies after meeting with local community resources to learn about prevention, healthy habits, and available services for themselves and their families. In addition, attendees enjoyed presentations, ice breakers, a gourd dance, and complimentary sub sandwichess and Navajo tacos.

Navajo Division of Behavioral & Mental Health Services (DBMHS) Traditional Practitioners and Prevention Specialists also contributed to the event and agenda. We thank our partners and the community for making this annual event a success for our Diné youth. Ahéhee’
