Jennifer Doub is now accepting new clients with immediate availability for individuals at Lotus Wisdom Counseling Services!

Jennifer brings a steady, warm, compassionate energy to her work and her approach is collaborative and individualized.

She believes:

You are the expert on your life. She provides a safe, compassionate, and completely judgment-free space where your voice leads the way. She thoughtfully supports you in exploring how your past may be influencing your present, and supports you in developing insights and making decisions based on your values in the present rather than being stuck in old patterns.

Understanding and our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors can help us discover practical tools to help you reframe unhelpful thoughts, find emotional balance, and learn to ride out life’s storms with greater resilience.

Honoring your identity and community is an important part of the work. Life doesn't happen in a vacuum, and exploring how your background, culture, gender, and societal pressures shape who you are and how your experiences impact your well-being helps empower you and can foster resilience and community connection.

Her role is to walk alongside you with curiosity, compassion, and support as you navigate growth, healing, and change.

Jennifer works with adults navigating concerns such as:

Anxiety & depression
Trauma & PTSD
Stress and life transitions
Identity exploration
Relationship concerns
LGBTQIA+ affirming care

Jennifer is accepting new clients for virtual appointments across North Carolina and has limited in-person availability in the Winston-Salem area. She is able to offer low cost and free services for individuals who are who are uninsured or underinsured.

Moving along a gradient from Ventral Vagus to Sympathetic to Dorsal Vagus, there are 5 states.

Safe & Social - Can I protect myself through authentic connection with others. If yes, stay here. If no, then…

Flight – Can I protect myself by running away from the threat? If yes, stay here. If no, then…

Fight - Can I protect myself by being assertive and addressing the threat head-on? If yes, stay here. If no, then…

Fawn - Can I protect myself by rejecting or suppressing my True Self? If yes, stay here. If no, then…

Freeze – Can I protect myself by shutting down, disconnecting, or collapsing? This is the final protection response if all others are not possible.]

🦎 I'm hosting a set of workshops on Functional Freeze, Fawn, & Masking on August 19 & 21, 2026 at 3pm EST. We’ll be learning about how these responses work in the body and in our world, and we’ll also talk about how to change a chronic pattern of long-term fawn states.
This is for both ND people and professionals. My classes are a unique space where we get to interact as peers without hierarchy. Recordings are shared the next day. Price options are $140, $70 (sliding scale), and $0 (community scholarship).

Clinical Mental Health Counseling Interns Accepting New Clients

Excited to have a new Clinical Mental Health Counseling Intern joining Lotus Wisdom Counseling Services this Fall! Welcome Jennifer! Our other interns, Trish and Lindsey, are accepting new clients for low-cost and free counseling services and have immediate availability. Jennifer will start accepting new clients in September.

Trish utilizes a blend of approaches, including DBT and ACT, to support clients with anxiety, depression, ADHD, self-esteem concerns, identity exploration, and major life transitions. She is especially passionate about incorporating mindfulness and self-compassion into her work, helping clients gain new perspectives and insight, growth, and hope. Trish also enjoys working with LGBTQIA+ clients and is deeply committed to providing affirming and inclusive care.

Lindsey approaches her work from a psychodynamic, narrative therapy lens. She is especially passionate about helping clients navigate identity exploration, relational wounds, grief, anxiety, trauma, life transitions, and questions of belonging. Lindsey has a particular sensitivity to those who have learned to silence their own needs or shape themselves around the expectations of others — and her work invites clients to reconnect with their own voice, authenticity, and sense of meaning. Lindsey offers LGBTQIA+ affirming care. Lindsey also brings creativity into her clinical work and is a Certified Therapeutic Game Master, allowing her to incorporate intentional use of tabletop role-playing games in therapy as a tool for healing, imagination, connection, and self-understanding.

Jennifer's approach is collaborative and individualized, drawing primarily from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), humanistic, and feminist approaches while incorporating mindfulness and meditation practices when helpful. She is also passionate about understanding how culture, identity, lived experiences, and larger systems can shape our mental health. Jennifer believes that instead of asking, “What’s wrong with you?” we can ask, “What has happened to you, and how have your experiences shaped the way you move through the world?” She is interested in working with clients struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, stress management, life transitions, identity exploration, relationship concerns, and offering LGBTQIA+ affirming care.

You can learn more about them and request a free 15 minute consultation at www.lotuswisdomcounseling.com.
