For the first time in what feels like forever, I wasn’t the mom waking up in the middle of the night to change diapers, clean up vomit, or sit beside a little bed holding tiny hands through a fever.
This time I simply got to be with my daughter.
I got to look into her eyes, really look. To see the beautiful young woman she’s becoming working soo hard to follow her dreams while somehow still seeing the little girl who used to twirl around the living room, reach for my hand, and make my whole world stop.
As mothers, we spend so many years making sure everyone has what they need. We work, provide, solve problems, and keep life moving. Somewhere along the way, without even realizing it, we can miss the quiet moments that matter the most. I am completely guilty of being that mom who is way to focused on doing and doing. But how much longer can that last?? I stopped to reflect… (ouch…)
This trip reminded me that my greatest joy has never been in doing more. It is simply being present.
Looking into my child’s eyes and, without a single word, feeling what she’s carrying in her heart. Laughing together. Holding her hand. Celebrating who she is today while still cherishing the little girl she once was.
It also made me realize how much I miss this with all four of my babies.
No accomplishment, no perfectly kept home, no endless to do list can ever replace these moments. These are the memories they’ll carry. These are the moments I’ll treasure long after everything else is forgotten.
This trip gave me a gentle wake up call. Slow down. Put the phone away. Sit a little longer. Listen a little deeper. Look into your children’s eyes.
Time passes so quietly until one day you realize how much of it has already gone by.
Today, more than anything, I just feel grateful. Grateful that I get to be their mom. And determined not to miss the moments that matter most anymore. ❤️ Thnk you for choosing me to be your mom 💗💙 I LOVE YOU kiddies 😘
