My play therapy must-have? Handcuffs.
They may look simple, but they carry big meaning.
In the playroom, handcuffs can show feelings of losing control or wanting it back. They can mean, “I need to mow you’re staying” or “don’t leave me.” Sometimes they’re both testing relational limits, exploring power, or making sure the relationship can hold strong feelings.
In play therapy, nothing is just a prop. Every choice is communication, and even handcuffs can tell a story about safety, trust, and connection.
