Gear guide alert!! Heading out tomorrow to raft the Middle Fork of the Salmon River with Far and Away Adventures, a family-owned Idaho-based outfitter specializing in what I’m thinking of as wild luxury, or luxurious wildness, ie adventurous itineraries with “glamping” style creature comforts. Since this is my first major multi-day fully offline rafting trip, I spent a fair amount of time researching gear needs and testing out shoes, pants, shorts, jackets etc to find UPF 50+ quick-drying waterproof options that are also lightweight and packable in a carry-on.
