Nguyễn Bá Năng – Building a Future Through Determination at Omamori Spa
Born in 2006 in Phú Thọ, Nguyễn Bá Năng is the second child in a family of three siblings. From the very beginning of his life, he faced significant challenges. Due to being born prematurely, he developed cataracts that eventually caused complete vision loss. Growing up without sight meant learning to navigate the world differently, but it also shaped a quiet resilience that continues to guide him today.
Năng’s journey in education was not an easy one. Because schools and learning opportunities for visually impaired students were limited, he began his education later than many children his age. His family searched tirelessly for a suitable school, traveling from Phú Thọ to Hải Dương in hopes of finding the right environment for him to learn and grow.
Eventually, he enrolled at Nguyễn Văn Tố School in Hà Nội, where he completed grade nine. During the two years he studied there, his parents made the long journey to take him to and from school every day. Their dedication came from love and concern, wanting to ensure he felt safe and supported while studying far from home.
Like many visually impaired students in inclusive learning environments, Năng experienced both kindness and challenges. While teachers and classmates often supported him, there were also moments when he faced insensitive comments or misunderstanding from others. Rather than responding with anger, he often chose silence, carrying those emotions quietly within himself.
At the age of 18, Năng decided to pursue massage therapy, opening a new chapter in his life. During his training, he worked closely with teachers who patiently guided him through each technique. The learning process was demanding, especially the physical strain that came with practicing massage skills. There were moments of discomfort and exhaustion, but he refused to give up.
Through persistence and dedication, Năng gradually developed strong professional skills and confidence in his abilities. Today, he has become a skilled massage therapist who approaches his work with care, focus, and genuine passion.
Working and learning at Omamori Spa has helped him discover more than just a career. It has shown him the value of meaningful work and the power of human connection. Massage is not only a profession for him — it is a way to bring comfort, healing, and peace to others.
As his love for the profession continues to grow, Năng dreams of one day opening his own spa. He hopes to create a place where people can relax, restore their health, and find calm in their busy lives. Through his journey, he proves that even when life begins with limitations, determination and support can open doors to a future full of purpose and possibility.

Bùi Thị Hiền – Finding Strength Through Life’s Challenges at Omamori Spa
Born in Bắc Kạn and now living in Thái Nguyên, Bùi Thị Hiền’s life has been a journey of resilience, love, and quiet determination. At 35 years old, she has faced more obstacles than most, yet she continues to move forward with remarkable strength and hope.
Hiền is the oldest of three siblings. She was born with congenital cataracts, and while her family sought treatment early, only one eye could be partially saved. After surgery before the age of one, her right eye retained good vision, while her left eye could not be restored. Over time, however, her eyesight gradually declined. Today, her remaining vision is limited to just one-tenth, making daily activities, learning, and work far more challenging.
Despite her visual impairment, Hiền’s childhood was filled with determination. She attended mainstream school alongside her peers and embraced learning with an open heart. At the age of nine, when her vision worsened significantly, she transferred to a school for visually impaired students where she could receive more suitable support. Through perseverance and hard work, she completed secondary school and continued to build her path forward.
Life became even more demanding when she started her own family. Hiền is now the mother of two children. Her eldest child, now 12 years old, faced complications at birth that affected both physical mobility and vision. Caring for a child with special needs requires constant patience, attention, and unconditional love. Her younger child, now 7, brings warmth and joy to their small family and gives her strength to keep going.
Throughout her life, Hiền has been surrounded by kindness from family, teachers, and friends. Their encouragement helped her believe that even in difficult circumstances, she was never alone. That support became the foundation of her resilience and gave her the courage to continue moving forward.
Before joining Omamori Spa, Hiền tried many different jobs to support her family. Later, through a friend’s recommendation, she discovered massage therapy and was introduced to Omamori. From the very beginning, she felt welcomed and supported by the teachers and team around her.
With dedication and a strong willingness to learn, Hiền quickly adapted to her training. Within just one week, she began mastering massage techniques and developing confidence in her skills. More than simply providing an income, this profession gave her something she had long been searching for — a sense of purpose, independence, and renewed hope.
Today, Hiền feels deeply grateful to be part of the Omamori family. For her, Omamori is more than a workplace. It is a second home filled with understanding, compassion, and shared experiences. Here, she is not defined by her disability, but recognized for her talent, determination, and spirit.
Hiền hopes to continue growing with Omamori Spa, improving her skills, and contributing to the community around her. She also wishes to inspire other visually impaired individuals, showing that challenges do not define a person’s future. Through courage, support, and opportunity, a meaningful life is always possible.

Today, we said goodbye to San, a wonderful Vietnamese-American boy who brought so much joy and warmth to our therapists at Omamori Spa.

Thank you, San, for spending time with our visually impaired therapists, sharing your kindness, your laughter, and creating memories that they will cherish for a long time. Sometimes, the greatest gifts are not things, but the genuine connections we make with one another.

Although it was hard to say goodbye, we are deeply grateful that our paths crossed. We wish you happiness, good health, and success wherever life takes you.

"Three years ago, I lost my sight in a traffic accident. I never imagined I would find a new purpose through healing others."

Dinh Duy Hien was born in November 1984 in Thai Nguyen Province, Vietnam.

For most of his life, Hien lived like anyone else. He completed high school, worked, and looked forward to building a stable future.

Everything changed in June 2023.

While riding his motorcycle, he was involved in a serious traffic accident. Although he avoided a direct collision with a car, his head struck the side of a truck, causing severe brain trauma. He spent more than a month in the hospital, but despite every effort, he completely lost the vision in both eyes.

In a single moment, life became unrecognizable.

Rather than giving up, Hien chose to learn a new way of living.

He enrolled in a wellness therapy training program, determined to gain a profession that would allow him to regain his independence. After completing his studies, he worked at several wellness centers, steadily building both his skills and confidence.

Today, he has nearly two years of experience in the profession.

His workdays are modest—typically three to four hours of treatment each day—but every client represents another step toward rebuilding the life he thought he had lost.

Like many wellness therapists, his income depends on both treatments and clients' appreciation. Some clients leave a small tip, others a larger one, and some simply offer kind words. To Hien, every gesture is a reminder that his work has value.

It is his willingness to begin again after losing everything he once depended on.

He transformed one of the darkest moments of his life into the beginning of a new career—one built on compassion, resilience, and the ability to help others feel better.

QUACH VAN MAO - FROM HOA BINH PROVINCE

"When I lost my sight, I thought my life had come to a stop. Then I realized I still had two reasons to keep moving forward."

Quach Van Mao was born in July 1988 in Mai Chau, Hoa Binh Province, Vietnam. At the age of 26, a severe illness changed his life forever.

It began with a high fever. Soon after, the vision in his right eye faded completely. The sight in his left eye gradually disappeared as well. Doctors explained that the illness had damaged the nerves connected to his eyes. A corneal transplant might restore some vision one day, but only if a suitable donor could be found.

From that moment on, Mao was completely blind. As if losing his eyesight was not enough, life presented another heartbreaking challenge. Not long after his vision was gone, his wife left home and never returned. Their two young sons stayed with him.

For nearly a decade, Mao has raised his children on his own. Unable to work, he did whatever he could to keep the family going. Every day was a struggle—not only financially, but emotionally. "There were so many pressures. I lost my eyesight, my wife left, and I had to raise my two sons alone. But little by little, I kept going."

His sons often asked where their mother was. At first, the questions were frequent. Over time, they slowly stopped asking. Those quiet moments became some of the hardest for a father who was already carrying so much.

Yet Mao never allowed hardship to define him.

When he learned about Omamori Spa's training program, he saw something he had not felt in years: hope. For the first time since losing his vision, he left his hometown to learn a new profession—one that could help him rebuild his life and provide a stable future for his children.

During the program, he also received his first white cane. "This cane has become my eyes. It helps me avoid obstacles and gives me the confidence to move around independently."

Looking ahead, Mao has one simple wish. After completing the course, he hopes to earn a job, allowing him to support his family through honest work and create a brighter future for his two sons.

Mao's story is not only about overcoming blindness. It is about a father's determination to keep moving forward, even when life seems to take everything away. Because sometimes, the greatest strength is not found in extraordinary achievements.

It is found in the quiet decision to never give up on the people who depend on you.

"Today, I discovered that massage is much more than a skill—it is a way of listening.

Today, I had the opportunity to learn more deeply about meditation. I had heard people talk about active meditation and silent meditation before, but I had never truly understood what they meant. After today's lesson and spending time learning more on my own, everything became much clearer.

To me, meditation is the practice of being completely present. It is about focusing on each breath, each thought, each movement, and every moment without distraction. When the mind becomes still, our awareness becomes sharper, allowing us to notice things that we would normally overlook.

What inspired me the most was discovering how meditation can transform the practice of massage, especially for massage therapists who are blind or visually impaired.

Meditation is not only about calming the mind—it teaches us to pay full attention. For a massage therapist, that means listening through the hands. Every touch, every gentle stroke, every movement becomes a conversation with the client's body. The hands begin to recognize where muscles are tense, where they are softening, how the body responds, and even how breathing changes as relaxation deepens.

The more I learned, the more I realized that this level of sensitivity does not come naturally. It is developed through patience, mindfulness, and thousands of hours of practice. Great massage is not only about technique; it is about awareness.

I have been working as a massage therapist for less than a year. To be honest, today's lesson made me feel both inspired and humbled. I asked myself whether my hands would ever become sensitive enough to understand a person's body in such a profound way.

Then I realized that every expert once started as a beginner.

If I cannot feel that deeply today, I will continue learning tomorrow. Every client, every treatment, and every mindful practice is another step forward. Sensitivity is not a gift—it is a skill built through dedication.

Today's experience reminded me why I chose this profession.

Massage is not simply about relieving physical tension. It is about creating trust, connection, comfort, and healing.

For people who are blind or visually impaired, the hands become far more than tools. They become eyes that perceive the world in a different way. When those hands are guided by meditation, mindfulness, and genuine compassion, they become hands that truly listen.

That is the kind of massage therapist I hope to become—not someone who simply performs techniques, but someone who can understand another person through the quiet language of touch.

BUI QUANG MINH FROM THAI BINH PROVINCE

"Success isn't always about starting over. Sometimes, it's about finding a path that truly matters."

Bui Quang Minh was born in 1990 in Thai Binh Province, Vietnam.

Like many young people, Minh moved to Hanoi to pursue higher education. He studied at Hanoi University of Science and Technology and later secured a stable office job with a foreign company.

By most standards, he was building a promising career.

But life took an unexpected turn.

After a serious accident, Minh suffered a brain injury that gradually affected his vision. Everything he had planned for his future suddenly changed.

Rather than allowing the setback to define him, Minh chose to begin again.

He joined the his hometown blind association, where he had been trained and then worked as a therapist for nearly three years before attending our training course.

His dedication quickly earned the trust of both clients and colleagues. "People recognized my skills, and many clients began requesting treatments specifically from me."

That trust gave him the confidence to take another leap. Minh opened a small studio at his own home. In the beginning, the journey was far from easy. He earned less than before because very few people knew about his services.

But he believed that quality work would speak for itself. Day by day, client by client, his reputation grew. Today, his income continues to increase as more people recommend his treatments to family and friends. While he still provides services at a few studios for blind therapists when requested, most of his time is now dedicated to serving clients in his own practice.

Beyond his career, Minh is also a devoted husband and father. He married in 2017, and after years of waiting, he and his wife recently welcomed their first child. One of his biggest dreams is simple—to build a stable career that allows his family to stay together and create a better future for their son.

"I don't want people to feel sorry for me. I just want the chance to build my own future."

Le Duc Minh was born in 2003 in Thanh Hoa Province, Vietnam.

When he was born, he could still see a little. But after an accident in childhood, he gradually lost the vision in both eyes. Despite undergoing six or seven eye surgeries over the years, he eventually became completely blind.

Instead of giving up, Minh chose to adapt.

He completed secondary school and, in 2022, began his journey as a wellness therapist. Today, he has nearly four years of professional experience and works at a studio in Long Bien, Hanoi.

His monthly income is around 10 million VND. It is not a fortune, but for Minh, it represents independence—the ability to support himself and contribute to his family's future.

Growing up in a family of six, Minh watched his parents work hard to make ends meet. His mother takes on various manual jobs, while his father works whenever opportunities arise. Seeing their sacrifices became one of the reasons he was determined to stand on his own feet.

What stands out most about Minh is his quiet resilience.

When asked whether losing his eyesight had changed his life, he answered calmly:

"At first, I could still see a little. Later, I lost my vision completely. But because I had already experienced that change once before, I gradually learned to adapt. It wasn't as frightening as people might think."

Rather than focusing on what he had lost, Minh focused on what he could still learn.

Joining our advanced training program gave him the opportunity to refine his techniques, learn new treatment methods, and continue growing professionally.

"This course helps me improve my skills and become more confident in my work."

Looking ahead, Minh has a clear goal.

One day, he hopes to return to his hometown and open his own studio, creating not only a career for himself but also a place where others can receive professional care.

Minh's journey reminds us that resilience is often quiet.

It is found in the decision to keep learning after setbacks, to keep working after disappointment, and to keep believing in a future that you are building with your own hands.

Because disability does not define ability. Opportunity does.

Luong Van Thon was born in 1989 in Nghe An Province, Vietnam.

He was born visually impaired. Despite the challenges, he attended school until the ninth grade and always dreamed of one thing: earning a living through his own work.

Before joining our training program, Thon worked at studio for blind therapists. On a good day, he would serve three or four clients. A 60-minute massage cost around 120,000 VND, and he would receive about half of that (60,000 VND). Tips varied from client to client, and some days there were none at all.

Yet income was not the main reason he decided to leave. "I felt I was being treated differently, so I resigned."

A simple sentence, but one that speaks volumes about the invisible barriers many people with disabilities continue to face.

Today, Thon lives with his elderly parents in his hometown. His family earns a modest income through small-scale farming, and although he receives a government allowance (about 700,000-1,000,000 VND per month), he has always wanted something more—the chance to become financially independent and ease the burden on his family.

Joining Omamori Spa's training program has given him more than professional skills. It has given him confidence, a supportive learning environment, and the opportunity to meet others who understand his journey.

He admits that many people with visual impairments are hesitant to step outside their comfort zone and engage with the wider world. But he chose a different path. He chose to keep learning, believing that with the right skills, he can build a stable career and a more independent future.

Some journeys are quiet.

Some dreams are simply about earning an honest living, being treated with dignity, and having the opportunity to stand on your own feet.
