DID YOU KNOW?
🎗
Cancer awareness around the world is often represented by colour ribbons – but here in Samoa, we've given it our own meaning.
💛
The SEI PUA, a traditional floral adornment used in cultural performances, for its beauty, fragrance, and decorative value, adding grace and elegance to the wearer.
🧡
On SEI PUA DAY, that same flower carries a more powerful message.
Each colour represents a life, a battle, and a family standing strong through it:
🧡 Orange – Leukemia & Kidney Cancer
💜 Purple – Pancreatic Cancer
💗 Pink – Breast Cancer / Cervical Cancer (Samoa)
❤️ Red – Blood Cancers
🤍 White – Lung Cancer
🤎 Brown – Colorectal Cancer
🧡
Behind every SEI PUA worn is someone's mother, father, child, sibling, or friend. Someone who has fought, is still fighting, or whose memory we carry with us.
When we wear our sei, we're not just wearing a flower – we're wearing love, remembrance, and hope, all at once.
So be SEI PUA DAY ready, choose your colour. Wear your SEI PUA – with love, with meaning, and with pride.
Let it start a conversation, spark awareness, and remind someone that they are not alone in this fight.
