Janel Gibson - Arts Therapist

Janel Gibson - Arts Therapist Janel Gibson is an Arts Therapist (AThR) and Peer Worker.
(1)

Creative Arts Therapy offers a way to multi-modally explore and communicate your thoughts, feelings, emotions and experiences, using all arts forms, such as painting, clay, movement or sound/music. In Creative Arts Therapy, we focus on the process of arts making rather than just creating a piece of art. No artistic skills or ability are required to participate in creative arts therapy. Arts therap

ist, Janel Gibson, works from the principles of Intentional Peer Support and the MIECAT form of Inquiry. These include valuing lived experience and considering individuals as experts of their own lives. Instead of telling you what you should do in each situation, Janel will walk alongside you to come to a place of meaning and making sense of something that holds value or significance for you. Arts therapies can help people to resolve conflicts, develop interpersonal skills, manage behaviour, reduce stress, increase self-esteem and achieve insight. Using the arts to explore the unknown allows for space and distance from topics that feel
emotionally charged and thus provides an invitation to ‘stay with’ discomfort in a safe way.

As everyone has their own ways of being and doing, the Arts Therapist will work together with the client to create a safe space to attend to what arises. Services:
- Individual Sessions
- Group Program
- Wellbeing Sessions for businesses/community groups

FRANKSTON & MORNINGTON PENINSULA CREATIVE ARTISTS✨

We had a wonderful time learning a Skill Share from one of our awesome ANZACS LRG members, Tina.

Together we explored a new way to engage with materials when met with accessibility barriers due to reduced fine motor skills and blindness. We discussed how this process could explore themes of perfectionism and play.

We meet each month to connect, learn and support one another as we support the community. Each session can be put towards professional development hours for ANZACATA Members.

If you're a creative arts therapist in the area, contact us to join the mailing list for our next session!

Turning my Mess into Meaningful Moments

When life really gets me down and I'm feeling spent, I turn to movement. Doesn't have to be good dancing. Sometimes it's just twirling about. But there's something special in allowing my body to feel, to move, and to make something meaningful.

Moving my body got me into a better headspace.

What might it offer you?

Where's your go-to dance floor? The kitchen, the bedroom? Comment below 👇

This week we reflected on what it looks like to walk alongside participants and be informed peer by lived experience values within therapeutic work.

We engaged in small group conversations and individual art making as part of our learning.

Participants shared that they found it engaging and really valuable.

If you're looking for a workshop or training, that's meaningful, fun and informative, enquire today.

💛 Feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or like you’ve been putting yourself last lately?

This is your reminder that you deserve space too.

In just a few days, I’ll be holding a small Women’s Wellbeing Workshop - a calm, welcoming space to pause, breathe, reconnect with yourself, and feel supported alongside other women.

No pressure.
No expectations.
No art experience needed.

Just a gentle morning of creativity, reflection, meaningful conversation, and connection.

So many women tell me they:
✨ Feel emotionally drained
✨ Struggle to make time for themselves
✨ Miss feeling connected to who they are outside of responsibilities
✨ Need a space where they can simply exhale

This workshop was created for exactly that.

Together we’ll use simple creative activities, reflection, colour, images, and conversation to explore what matters most to you — in a way that feels safe, supportive, and grounding.

🌿 You do NOT need to be “creative” or “good at art”
🌿 Everything is guided step-by-step
🌿 Come exactly as you are

You’ll leave feeling:
✨ Calmer
✨ Encouraged
✨ More connected
✨ Less alone

📅 Monday 1st June | 10am–12pm
📅 Tuesday 2nd June | 10am–12pm

NDIS & private participants welcome.

💛 Places are limited and workshops begin in just a few days.
