Withington Area Survey

Manchester City Council and local resident’s groups are interested in people’s response to the public-realm works in Rutherford Place and Copson Street.

Here is a link to a survey. It takes about a minute to complete, and your views are important to influencing future changes.

AMION Consulting are carrying out an independent assessment of recent improvements to Withington village centre on behalf of Manchester City Council, the Withington Village Regeneration Partnership and Rosgal Ltd. The survey aims to understand how these changes may have affected people’s views, vi...

Don’t Put Your Life in the Bin 🗑️❤️

Shooting Creatives has teamed up with Manchester Local Care Organisation to launch a powerful new short film tackling a vital issue: low bowel cancer screening uptake, particularly among Black African and Caribbean men.

Set across Withington, Old Moat, and Manchester, the film follows one man’s journey from throwing his screening kit away to realising just how much is at stake. Catching bowel cancer early saves lives.

What you need to know about the NHS Bowel Cancer Screening Programme:

🏠 It's free & done at home: The test checks for signs of cancer before any symptoms even appear.

📬 Aged 50–74? If you're registered with a GP, a kit will automatically arrive in the post every 2 years (starting at age 50, 52, or 54 depending on your birth year).

📞 Aged 75+? You can still request your free kit every 2 years by calling the helpline at 0800 707 6060.

Don't ignore the envelope when it arrives. It only takes a few minutes, but it could save your life.

“If you replace ‘I’ with ‘We’ even illness becomes wellness.” ❤️

We are incredibly proud to share the story of a powerful new collaboration in Withington. Yasmin from Manchester Local Care Organisation recently brought together Mandem Meetup and Withington Walls to create a stunning community mural aimed at breaking the stigma around men’s mental health.

Men in our community worked alongside street artist ‘Oskar with a K’ to transform the wall of Go Local Extra on Burton Rd into a message of brotherhood and solidarity. 🎨🤝

Beyond the art, we are committed to long-term support in the Withington and Old Moat area:
🔹 Be Well MCR hosts Men’s Health Drop-In sessions (last Friday of every month) at Withington Library.
🔹 Mandem Meetup holds Talking Circles at Withington Baths (2nd & 4th Monday of the month).

Check out the full story and the amazing transformation here:

Special thanks to Withington Baths and Be Well for their ongoing support!

🏙️ Making Withington Village accessible for everyone!

The Comfortable Community Scheme is here to reduce barriers and help our community feel welcome while out and about. Local businesses are stepping up to offer a seat, a glass of water, or use of facilities.

Who is the scheme for?
This initiative is specifically designed to support:
👵 Older residents who might need a rest
👶 Parents with young children & pregnant people
✨ People living with hidden disabilities

Keep an eye out for the window stickers in participating venues! Whether you need a safe space to breastfeed, a quick rest, or a glass of water, these businesses are here to help. 🤝
