🔍 Understanding Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)

Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS) is a condition characterized by excess and prolonged pain and inflammation following an injury to an arm or leg. It can present in two forms: acute (short-term) and chronic (lasting longer than six months).

Previously known as reflex sympathetic dystrophy (RSD) and causalgia, CRPS can manifest as:

✔️Spontaneous pain or extreme sensitivity, even to light touch
✔️Changes in skin color and temperature
✔️Swelling in the affected limb

💧 IV Infusion Therapy for Chronic Pain Relief 💧

At NeuPath Centre for Pain & Spine, IV infusion therapies offer advanced, physician-supervised options for patients living with chronic or treatment-resistant pain.

Two key infusion treatments we provide include:

🌟Lidocaine Infusions
Lidocaine infusions can help reduce nerve-related pain by calming overactive pain signaling pathways in the nervous system. This treatment may be beneficial for conditions such as neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia, chronic regional pain syndrome (CRPS), diabetic neuropathy, and certain headache disorders.

Coverage Information: Up to 6 OHIP-covered Lidocaine infusions per year. Additional treatments are private pay or may be covered through third-party insurance.

🌟Ketamine Infusions
Ketamine is an advanced treatment option for chronic or severe pain that has not responded to standard therapies. It works by acting on specific receptors in the brain and spinal cord to help reduce pain sensitivity, interrupt abnormal pain pathways, and in some cases improve mood and overall quality of life.

Ketamine infusions are delivered in a controlled medical setting under the supervision of a NeuPath Centre for Pain & Spine physician and trained infusion nursing team, with continuous monitoring throughout the procedure.

Coverage Information: Ketamine infusions are not covered by OHIP and are private pay or may be covered through third-party insurance.
