Fiber isn’t sexy, but it does feed the beneficial bacteria in your gut. When those bacteria break down fiber, they produce compounds that help regulate inflammation, support the gut lining, stabilize blood sugar, and influence appetite. And that IS sexy. Especially in midlife when those things are really needed to feel your best and protect your health.

Here’s what you need to know to put it in action: because fiber is spread out across plant foods—vegetables, fruits, legumes, whole grains, nuts, and seeds—it can take more intention to reach the recommended 25–35g per day.

If your current intake is low, increase slowly and give your gut time to adjust.

Small daily changes add up. Just like with…everything. Start small, feel the wins, carry on…

Want help? Let me know. I’m here for all of it, sexy or not 💋

How can you boost immunity with food?

Eating a balanced plate including what is in season means fresher, more nutrient dense and tastier food, encouraging satiety + satisfaction. It’s simple healthy nutrition.

Which will you try this month?

Small Steps. Real Change.
No overhaul needed.

If the idea of a full reset feels overwhelming, you’re not alone. Sustainable change doesn’t happen through all-or-nothing approaches. It happens through small, intentional steps that actually fit into real life.

One step is enough to begin.

During this busy time, we don’t have to give up on our movement goals completely, rather we can get creative and figure out some quick + easy “movement snacks” that will help us feel energized and accomplished. It all counts, and it’s not all or nothing when it comes to taking care of our body.

Here are some quick movement ideas that will help you feel refreshed bd accomplished, no matter how busy you are:
🎉Take a few walking laps around the mall parking lot before going inside.
🎉While cooking or baking, do 10 push-ups against the kitchen counter.
🎉Do some walking lunges as you move around your house.
🎉Take a yoga break from working at your desk; a few downward facing dogs and some tree poses will help you feel refreshed again.
🎉Wrap a gift, do 5-10 squats. Repeat in between each gift you wrap.
🎉Grab some weights (or water bottles if you don’t have weights) and do some bicep curls in between household tasks.

You get the idea! The important thing isn’t what you do, it’s that you do something no matter how small.

Feeling the pressure yet? Historically this is the week the switch flips from “I’m in good shape” to “I’m behind + I’m not sure how I’ll get it all done” on the holiday tasks. Turn on the tv or open a social media account and you’re reminded again about how little time is left to get it all done (“last minute gift lists” in mid-December??).

Take a breath. Stopping for a quick minute to practice a few rounds of box breathing, or any other type of intentional breath quiets the nervous system, shifts perspective and gives a feeling of calm overall. It’s so good for reducing anxiety, Navy SEALS + other first responders use it to increase focus and gain control in tough situations.

Small effort for a big payback. Works every time!

When the tasks keep piling on and the invites are happening almost daily, it’s easy to lose sight of the value that some quiet time with yourself has. Studies show that even a brief 15 minute reprieve from scheduled events to do whatever it is you enjoy will reset your brain to keep you more focused, lower stress hormones, think more clearly, support your immune system, and increase motivation and satisfaction. In simpler words, prioritizing micro breaks will keep you balanced and clear so you’re ready for the things you have to accomplish.

Will you schedule a break for yourself? With all these worthwhile benefits, you can’t afford not to!

Heading out to a holiday party or a dinner with friends? Here’s a simple way to have some fun AND stick to your weight management goals. Being conscious of your health doesn’t mean rigid rules and deprivation; it means prioritizing what’s most important and making simple shifts that keep you on track.

Yes, you CAN have your cake and eat it, too. Enjoy the fun!! 🎉
