Malaysian Infection Control & Infectious Diseases Society The aims of the society are to promote education, training and conduct research related to this field.

The Malaysian Society of Infection Control and Infectious Diseases (MyICID) is a professional body, with members comprising of registered medical practitioners, nurses, pharmacists or any other healthcare personnel who are interested in the field of infectious diseases, infection control and antimicrobial resistance in Malaysia. We also collaborate with appropriate government and non-government or

ganisations; professional societies; corporations and public organisations in pursuance of the above objectives. VISION:
“To ensure the best delivery of patient care in the field of infectious diseases, infection control and antimicrobial resistance”

MISSION:
"To support health professionals in their work to prevent, investigate and manage infectious diseases and its related fields via the advance of education, training and research"

OUR OBJECTIVES:

FELLOWSHIP
To provide a group identity and consensus for Health Care Providers in the management of infectious disease, infection control and antimicrobial resistance in Malaysia. KNOWLEDGE
To provide education, design programs and conduct research for the development of knowledge and skills amongst members in the control of infectious disease and antimicrobial resistance. COLLABORATE
To collaborate with appropriate government, non-government, professional agencies, corporations and public organisations in the affairs of infectious disease, infection control and antimicrobial resistance in Malaysia.

Understanding Tuberculosis (TB) and the Right Ways to Protect Yourself

The Malaysian Society of Infection Control and Infectious Diseases (MyICID) takes note of recent reports regarding an increase in tuberculosis (TB) cases across the country, which have understandably caused public concern. While vigilance is important, our response must be guided by scientific evidence rather than fear.

Recently, there have been calls for the public to adopt “universal masking” — the practice of everyone wearing face masks at all times in public spaces — as a measure to prevent the spread of TB. However, this approach is not supported by established TB control principles. Notably, the World Health Organization (WHO) and public health experts do not recommend universal masking for TB control in the community.
